HPB accepts everything you bring but a lot of the stuff brings you about a dime. They just take the crap and recycle it. If you don't sell your stuff yourself you will get virtually nothing,

They are absolutely right. How much do you expect them to pay for their 20th copy of The Dark Knight or Harry Potter?

I think a quarter is on the high side from HPB. The Exchange is a little better. Craig's List is probably your best bet,

Reply to Trib Editorial: Is Zappala holding Kennywood to a higher standard than other shooting scenes? by Aggravating_Foot_528
I think the press conference regarding Kennywood went horribly wrong. My understanding was it was supposed to focus on Glock switches and how dangerous they are. And the state laws don’t really allow for people to be held accountable. Only federal laws do. They even demonstrated at a shooting range how deadly they can allow a Glock to be. But the media gave the shooting range very little coverage.
The shooter in the Kennywood incident had a Glock switch. The only reason the incident wasn’t worse was because it jammed. To me, that point was lost in the press conference. But to be fair, it also wasn’t conveyed properly.

I paid about $80 all told the other day for this service at our family’s long-time mechanic. I don’t think you’re going to get much cheaper than that.

A friend of mine who used to work for the police said they were brought in as a PR tool, not as a policing tool. Pittsburgh has few events that require horses, and the cops bring them out even less often.

I was thinking something similar... The pizza place stays, they work for minimum wage, get some free pizza, and it remains open to the public... Workforce development and a shelter in one.

Must consider Shadyside. Contact Franklin West. They own a lot of older buildings in all price ranges. Also call sterling real estate. A friend recommends them. They have a couple big old buildings within walking distance of CMU.
On bikeability. Shadyside and Oakland are in a large relatively flat part of the city. CMU is also in the same flat part. Squirrel Hill is a hill climb or 2 depending where you live from campus. You will get used to biking the hills if you pick sq. Hill. Downtown, south side, north side, strip district and Lawrenceville are below CMU, so live there and you are biking up to CMU. Again doable, but you’ll be climbing.

A tip for everyone: The O and 0 on a PA license plate are indistinguishable by both human and machine. Do what you will with that inf0rmation. 😉

good point, but I could simply give the horse a zucchini or an eggplant and it would become docile and fall asleep

It’s pretty easy to knock down someone on stilts. It’s much harder to knock down a horse.

Good to know. That's always what happened for me before, unless I had a cavity, or I have been charged for a portion of the x-rays. Getting charged so much extra for a basic visit shocked me. But then, my eye Dr now splits my visits between annual eye testing and the eye exam, so I get charged 2 copays. I was starting to think maybe this is just the new normal and how businesses are working to make more money from basic visits.
