The State House has one of the four largest, self-supported marble domes in the world.

The largest is St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, the second largest is the Minnesota State Capitol and the third largest is the Taj Mahal in India. On the inside of the dome, there is a wonderful painting, "The Four Freedoms" by Rhode Island artist James Allen King.

Ikr? Another newcomer to RI mentioned recently on this or the RI sub that they were shocked to discover the dearth of in-unit washer/ dryers here.

And reading here, I've learned how much harder it's become to find an apt that allows dogs, even small ones.

When I first moved here from MA years ago I was pleasantly surprised by how much easier it was here to rent with a dog than MA had been.

No more.

Why should a landlord allow pets when the market's this insanely tight that they have their pick of tenants? 😣

As some others said, that is asking a lot for the price in the Providence area. You might not be able to check all those boxes without exceeding your price range.

I am moving out of my apartment (bought a house), and this apartment is $1,800. Just to give you an idea: It is 3 floors if you count the loft area, 2 full bedrooms and 1 room that is more like an office. In unit laundry but no dishwasher and does not include utilities. Is about 5 min outside of PVD and is dog friendly.

You state your lease says " NO PETS" and you have a neighbor downstairs. Hypothetically, lets say you break your clause and the neighbor complains. Do you think they will want to renew your lease or get another person w/o pets. If I was a landlord I wouldn't and take the next person. Its as simple as that.

I've seen many post on regarding pets and places that will take them. I know a cat isn't a big deal but dogs is another thing regarding noise and potential to bite regardless of how well trained they are. Have you considered others in the building.

I know this isn't easy but if there are landlords out there that have entire units for people w and w/o pets this would eliminate these type of issues.

Damn dude. Fwiw, it sounds like youre doing the best job possible. I'm embarrassed to admit that if I were in your situation Im not positive I'd be strong as you, i could cave-in just like your wife. I feel for you though, wife and I have a 2 month old but you're right that I can't truly understand how rough it's been for you and your wife. But in my world my wife and me's teamwork has been pivotal. Your son will always have autism but you could work on the teamwork in your marriage. Easier said than done, I know, but at least, cut yourself some slack. You're doing a bangup job, better than most people could.
