I think that your contribution was just low quality which is why people downvoted you into oblivion. The post responding to you was perhaps rude at the end, but it was addressing your exact points.

You claimed that people were oversimplifying models, and that “none of these factors are accounted for”. They are actually standard considerations in urban planning and development, and those factors have been examined and debated at length for not only the purposes of this project, but for the community’s intentions w/ development more broadly. If you’re tapped into the scene, these topics are low hanging fruit and generally a waste of time to discuss. This city’s journey forward has been completely mired by people who are brand new to the issues and interject with what they believe are original thoughts in the matter, when they’re hardly the first to consider these things. All it does is force the conversation back to an unproductive point.

It’s frustrating to have to constantly talk about Airbnb activity being a primary economic consideration for any/every development when it actually hardly matters in the context. Or worse, the suggestion that another major factor to consider is whether or not the wealthy are utilizing “vacancy write offs”, which literally do not exist… Where does this idea even come from? It betrays a complete lack of understanding of how any of this works.

The post isn’t divisive in any political or personal sense, it’s divisive in the sense that you can immediately tell who in the thread has no idea what they’re talking about.

Do what you can to be visible, wearing bright colors and using bright bike lights. Assume most drivers are not paying attention, and expect that 20% of cars have tinted windows that will interfere with their ability to see at dusk and night.

I'm mostly a walker, but I get treated very differently (better!) when I have a bright vest on. Drivers are more likely to stop for me when I'm trying to cross the street than when I'm in my regular outerwear. I assume it's because I stick out in the streetscape.

Please follow the rules of the road, especially at lights and stop signs. They apply to bicyclists too

I ride all over but I don’t typically need to commute during rush hour.

My advice is learn your routes. I’ve found most the streets I feel okay biking on over some trial and error.

I also when possible like to plan my route in advance if I’m going somewhere new. If I have the time I’ll even Google map it a bit and see if there’s a shoulder or make sure I’m not riding a highway of doom.

Legend Bicycle put this cool map of every street in the city with its bike-ability level. It’s from 2018 so Its likely missing some new bike lanes but still a good place to start. https://legendbicycle.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Layotheland-2018a.pdf

Have fun be safe.

Francesca’s in Pawtucket has some vegan options and you can ask them to make a couple of the dishes under the Mexican breakfast section vegan (like the motuleño). Hudson Cafe has great breakfast sandwiches, but it’s not a sitdown place if that’s what you’re looking for. Others have mentioned Plant City and Pianta – they both are a little pricy for what they are, but the food is good (especially at Pianta).

The vegan scene is pretty good here, but for some reason we’re really lacking in good breakfast options.

ETA: I can’t believe I forgot Rory’s! I’m actually sitting here right now after enjoying a breakfast sandwich LOL

Louis Family Restaurant! I apologize if this changed in recent years. I’m a lurker who used to live in Providence. But back in the day they would have all their vegan specials on hand-drawn flyers posted around the counter at the restaurant. They had tofu scramble and vegan pancakes, vegan breakfast sandwiches and a bunch more. Their regular menu online looks very not vegan friendly but i remember they were awesome!
