I looked it up a while ago and there are only about 10k Mexicans in Rhode Island. My husband gets mistaken for Guatemalan quite frequently. By Guatemalans.

Even in heavily Latino neighborhoods, there was still culture shock as there is so much variation.

As others are saying, olneyville is good. Also Chalkstone and silverlake. Both neighborhoods are VERY diverse (especially in terms of Latinos) but have a lot of Mexican markets/good restaurants.

La lupita in olneyville and Taconazo in silver lake are the best Mexican restaurants in town.

Not really sure about Mexican neighborhoods specifically but there are a few areas with a big Latino/Hispanic presence. The south side of Providence has a large Dominican/Puerto Rican/Caribbean community. Central Falls has a more central/south america/mexican community I would say. Good places to start.

Excellent!

Because of the strong rep and the location, I've retried Rebelle three times. That probably would have been my limit on its own, but that woman cemented things.

Bagel Gourmet is worth a try, if you're so inclined. A blind taste test is always fun.

Had a chance to get my hands on a dozen from Absolute Bagles in NY. Ate 4 in the car on the way home, lol.

Anyone who knows from bagels knows you freeze them if you're not going to eat them within hours, not days.

If you love the bagels from that place, great. Nobody should yuck your yum. Best in town, though...

Make sure you've tried others. The only thing better than a bagel you really enjoy is a bagel you enjoy even more.
