Don't know about RIH in particular, but since legalization happened last year there were new rules implemented about drug testing. For most jobs you are unable to drug test for cannabis unless working in a federal capacity, or certain other guidelines listed in the link below.

I do appreciate Vicente's and MB and consider them somewhat local. Vicente's is very inclusive and they opened in a neighborhood that needed grocery. Market Basket is brilliant in their strategy of maximizing purchasing power and focusing on volume vs margin.

Other RI options:

-Dave's -Brigidos -Confreda's (their sales are insane)

Plus all of the farm stands in RI. I know a great group of girls who have been working with local producers to try to get their retails down (recently got LOCAL certified organic potatoes delivered for $1.99/lb and they offered me an additional discount if I wanted to take more)

What type of food do you like? What type of atmosphere? For a fun partyish vibe and good food troop is pretty cool but definitely not extra fancy, lots of music and it's a cool spot. Bayberry garden I haven't been to since the summer but when I went a couple times it was more about the ambiance just being nice rather than energetic. Maybe cav? Good food, wicked interesting place, great staff but again not super energetic, people won't be getting up out of their seats to dance or anything. Rogue island is more intimate not fancy but had awesome cocktails and beer list, plus a few cool bars for after dinner nearby. bayberry beer hall similar and you can pop over to moniker after.

It should be pointed out that if your child tests into Classical High School, (which is a Providence public school) it is considered the best High School in the state.

Elementary and Middle though are a crapshoot.

Having a child in the schools - who didn’t get into Classical - I can confirm that the academic standards aren’t as high as I’d like them - but the exposure he’s getting to people from very different backgrounds is richer than any other place here I can imagine.

Getting funding for an established business through crowdfunding is really sketchy. If a business with years of financial records can’t access a small amount of capital through traditional means, they’re clearly in a lot of trouble. It’s disingenuous to seek out investment from the community without a clear understanding of the financial position of the business.

Brown’s salary info is public so you can look it up pretty easily. Put it this way: I make a lot more in the private sector than I would if I had a position with more seniority at Brown. The non-profit world doesn’t pay that well.
