Reply to Three years after closing for renovations, Providence’s Duck & Bunny plans to finally rebuild by rhodyjourno
I hate that this building was hastily demolished with absolutely no construction activity for years. It’s been a gaping hole on Wickenden Street, which is otherwise thriving. At this point I’d honestly be shocked if they actually build a structure there for a restaurant that’s been closed for years.

This is the most Rhode Island comment ever. Also, username Czechs out!

I would look in north providence too if I were you. It will put you halfway in between campus and the city. Cutting providence completely out of your morning commute will definitely be beneficial.

Read the article. It was not “historic” it was just old. It was nominally part of a historic register district but that’s just an honorific title not any kinda of mandate to protect it or statement that the building itself is of historic interest.

I would say yes it’s more family oriented in general in that area, but I had a blast living there as a single no kids person. And my single no kids friend who lived off Broadway was a quick rideshare away.

I lived on Waterman Street for 5 years. Before that I lived over near Hope High for 2 years and on Angell Street for 3 years. So 10 years in the East Side total. I loved it. If I could have afforded to buy a place I liked in my price range, I would have. I could walk almost everywhere (I landed at a gym outside of walking distance and was too lazy to walk to work though I did at times… damn hills).

Full disclosure, I am a gringo from the northeast so my palette isn't very refined, but there's a little mom and pop place down in Riverside called Taconando that feels very authentic, has good food and absurd portions.

I moved here from the southwest and I feel the pain. The Mexican food is different here. I have to make my own Hatch green chile, and my own beans. Chilangos is ok, and there’s a new place called Piñata opening soon. Keep the flame alive.

Didn't they knock down a historical building?
I don't have any thoughts on the matter I've just read there was a lot of controversy around it.

These are both Tacquerias. They’re alright, but OP is asking for a decent Mexican restaurant, rather than a taco shop.

Tallulah’s Taqueria - they’re a little on the pricier side and may appear inauthentic on the outside, but the food is delicious and super fresh. IIRC they were actually founded by a chicano chef from Texas, so this could be a taste of home for you
