Who would use such a train? Few people in RI are trying to get to Fall River or New Bedford, and there aren’t enough people in that part of MA commuting to Providence to support the costs of operating the line.

Realistically you could use the line from Attleboro to Taunton and connect into the rail lines for Fall River and New Bedford. That line would most likely need work to allow Passenger traffic, but the rail lines are still there and active.

I did this story partially because of my own experiences with Free File, where I've had the same thing happen and realize I needed to use a different program that would have given me an extra state's return for free (working in MA, living in RI).

The free state tax return thing is so helpful. Sucks to get to the end of the free program just to discover you have to pay to file in RI.
