Look at the Seaport District in Boston. Just 20 years ago, it too was just a wasteland full of parking lots. Then as Boston real estate prices soared, it made sense to develop there. Now it's full of residential units, offices, restaurants, night life. East Cambridge went through a similar transformation. It's not my cup of tea- I find it soulless, but it increased the amount of available housing (relieving pressure elsewhere) and increased the city's tax base. The same can be done here with the Jewelry District and other I-195 parcels.

I could be incorrect but from what I’ve seen there have been multiple towers and other luxury buildings opened to high end buyers/tenants that had a very difficult time filling up and with a lot of empty spaces. Building these high end towers might theoretically lower prices down the road a few years-maybe.

The state needs to be creative and make some budgetary changes in order to afford to build housing. The state can’t afford it and people can’t afford their rent. So the only solution I ever see proposed is to build luxury condos. It’s a stretch to say this will benefit the working class and poor

Ugh this has happened to me and my 15lb dog SEVERAL times with different dogs since we relocated to fed hill. None have ever been bad enough to injure my dog seriously, thank god, but i’ve been very scared that she was hurt after a few of the instances. it just sucks that now we both have to be like ~ready~ every time we go outside, and she also now is super nervous at all times / doesn’t like other dogs (can ya blame her?)

A building just like that one Lol. It would stretch downtown by several blocks and I promise the rest of the jewelry district would have seen revitalization. If you’ve driven through that area then you know it’s mostly parking lots and 1 story box stores

I rode buses every day for 4 years in high school. 2 a day plus a 10 minute walk both ways. Then rode the 66 to URI 4 times a week, 2 buses/20 minute walk. 1.5hrs total each way assuming I don’t miss any buses

RIPTA is OK but anyone who thinks we don’t need to SERIOUSLY overhaul the system has never depended on the buses. It’s nice to have buses when there are no other options. But the shitty drivers, buses running early/late, homeless/crazy people, disgustingly dirty stops/buses (once saw a man urinate into a bottle in the back corner and it spilled everywhere) all make it an unpleasant experience. We need light rail or some kind of fixed car system.

move Kennedy plaza, it’s a huge eye sore downtown. It basically makes downtown into a homeless encampment instead of a city center. Put at least 1 light rail line like how they proposed from Pawtucket through downtown. The park is gross too, it’s too small anyways they should just bulldoze it and rebuild it or sell the land.

Also a lot of people got dogs during COVID when they were stuck at home and didn’t train them right. Now the dogs are full grown and they’re just letting them loose. Not that morons haven’t always existed with their dogs unleashed, but it’s probably why it’s popping up more and more

You need to push for a vicious dog hearing. It's pretty much the only recourse, and animal control won't go out of they're way to tell you about it.

When my dog was attacked they didn't do or say anything until I pushed for the hearing. It was a mess, when I pushed for the hearing and they pulled up the paperwork for the attack it wasn't completeted, or filed smh.

The guy on the phone was like seesh someone messed up (i didn't have the heart to tell him it was him who originally took the report months earlier.)

All the animal control people were very nice, but the whole thing was such a shit show.

See if you can push for a vicious dog hearing. It's pretty much the only tool available to bring any sort of consequences to a bad dog owner.

A pitbull attacked my dog on my property, latched onto his neck and wouldn't let go, the owner refused to pay for the emergency overnight vet costs.

Scheduling the vicious dog hearing is the only reason I got that money.

The issue is this is a “would” have if it would have gotten built. There didn’t seem to be a reality here where this actually got built unless we lived back in 2015 with incredibly low interest rates.

This prostration for some vanity tower from a minor out of state developer whose marketing oozes with insincerity about how much they care about RI (just enough to convince gullible politicians) is laughable. Lets get somebody in that parcel who’ll actually build something, like a 30 story mixed use complex with some offices. Maybe seek a flagship private firm to set up a branch in there. Lets get all those parking lots near it upzoned as well.

This project was a pig with lipstick being called a prize hog. The state needs a comprehensive development strategy around major employment and transit corridors, not big shiny one-offs.
