I never said anything was anybody’s fault. I’m talking about a statistic that’s off because a lack of reports on other bites because they either don’t require medical attention or an ER visit. Yes pit bulls have a powerful bite, but it also has a gentle, loving disposition and require a lot to throw that trigger.
You don’t care about intentions? Shouldn’t a dog that’s actually trying to kill be more dangerous than a dog that isn’t?

>Specifics matter
yes they do. like the specific bite force of a chihuahua being 5 psi, vs a pit's 235 psi. that is the specific that matters if that. force is being applied to a human being.
i don't care if the intentions are the same, much like i wouldn't react the same to a murderous mouse vs say a tiger
you're complaining about pit bull bites being reported more like that's the people being bitten's fault. it gets reported more because people need medical attention more. that's not the bite victim's fault

Nah, Sriracha fucked around and found out. They tried to screw over one of their most faithful suppliers and got left out in the cold.

Not when you’re demonizing an entire breed. Specifics matter. Just because the chihuahua can’t kill you doesn’t mean it isn’t trying to. The mentality of the animal should be taken into consideration don’t you think?

I don't know. I've been to a couple of events there and there's something unwelcoming about having to park a quarter mile away if there's no valet on duty, and then having to take an elevator down two levels underground.

>My 90lb classic American bully COULD do more damage than say a chihuahua, but that chihuahua is 5xs more likely to bite. Now you think those chihuahua bites are reported?
i think most reasonable people wouldn't see a problem with potentially fatal bites being reported with more frequency than minor nuisance bites.
it's not a competition for quantity of bites.

As it should, I don’t disagree. I think it has potential to grow more than 1% each year lol

Of course it does. The poorest of the poor in this country and this area live lives that people in other parts of the world or other parts of the country would kill for.
It’s a matter of perspective. Poor are never not going to be poor. There’s always going to be someone who has more than someone else. But success, growth, capitalism allow programs like Obamacare, voucher programs, snap benefits to exist. Progress requires success. It’s a step in the process most “community advocates” can’t seem to grasp. You can’t create something from nothing.

Rent control won’t lower rents. It’ll slow the pace of rental increases. Something I’m completely on board with and I own rental properties. I think there’s been too much advantageous gouging in the last couple years.
Again reality vs fiction. You’re never going to eliminate the landlord/tenant dynamic. It’s been around forever in various forms. You can restrict, make it more tenant friendly, but at the end of the day tenancy/affordable housing does not accomplish much more than making a select group of people feel better about themselves. Rising tide raises all ships. Raise the tide of Providence economic situation, all classes will benefit. They won’t benefit downtown or in immediate areas, but they’ll benefit.

This has nothing to do with Hartford or Newark.
Walking alone at night in Mt Hope is definitely not a good idea.

Wasn’t EGO on the list from yesterday of clubs that might have their liquor and/or entertainment licenses revoked next week?
Sounds like they’ve got some problems on their hands.

And then more rich people from Boston and New York are attracted to a perfect little gentrified city and more luxury housing is built and rents are still sky high but it's okay because the filtering effect will probably kick in sometime around 2045 and housing will finally be affordable.

Do we know if the girl that was walking the dog back was the actual owner? I was one of the neighbors that came running to help, and I was right there when it all happened. I saw this girl take the dog away to that white house on the corner of Almy and Grove St, but she never said anything about being the owner. In fact, we asked many times if anyone knew where the owner was, but she didn’t say anything about being the owner..but if she was and pretended like the dog wasn’t hers when that monster was attacking the poor pup, then that’s very messed up. I stayed up to the point when the police came and this tall, white bald dude came out to talk to the cop. I left at that moment bc I don’t like when cops get involved.

There’s a BILLION scenarios that would’ve could’ve should’ve. Let’s deal with what is. What is is a great opportunity for Providence to have a renaissance within the downtown and bordering areas. They can become a higher end community that attracts a lot of great businesses and reflective of a State Capitol that sits beautifully between Boston and New York. The benefits of that will be a city filled with vibrancy able to spend on other projects that can help affordable housing, etc.

Population, Census, April 1, 2010 178,042
Not sure why this is upvoted. The 2021 number is only an estimate and also is only a decrease of about 700 people from 2020.
The city has also grown every census since 1990, when it had a population of 160,728.

If people don't have to spend 60% of their income on rent they can contribute more to the rest of the economy. That helps everyone.

The post, despite obviously being some bias there, does make sense. Workplace drama and the commented claims about Ego fostering a work environment and clientele that allows for racism and transphobia. Ego was definitely not a welcoming place as a trans woman, even though I'm white, and can imagine the talent and such there every night saw and heard a lot worse.
The LGBT community as a whole has often struggled with this so the claims aren't exactly shocking.
