In nice weather the outdoor scenery at Ragged Island in Portsmouth is unbeatable. The #60 West Main bus goes right to it.

There is nothing to study. Electric trains are better in every way. Just get it done.

baffling that this hasn't been done ages ago. Glad to see they are finally getting their asses moving on this.

I tried it when they first opened and was so disappointed. Cold pastrami on cold bread with cold kraut and Kens Russian dressing. Is it still made that way?

I currently commute from providence to Boston on commuter rail. This would be such an improvement. Also blows my mind that they have not electrified the providence line, 95% of what they need is already there.
Would also be great if Amtrak would add back their trains that departed during commuting hours.

Amtrak is great if it lines up with your schedule, but I'd rather to be able to hop on a train that comes every half hour without having to plan in advance. Part of the MBTA electrification plan is increasing frequency to 15 minutes peak and 30 minutes off peak which would be huge.

I like walks, with stops for coffee, pizza or tacos. I start at the Pedestrian Bridge. There are great walks in all directions. Full disclosure, I might stop for a beer, but most of the time it's coffee or grabbing a slice to eat outside.
The Hope Farmers market on Saturdays and Providence Flea are good all year round, but are even better outside (May to Oct, I think).
I love Aleppo Sweets, but go for the savory dishes and get a pot of the special teas. Possibly the best, or at least most unique restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol.
I also like BYOB places. Bring a bottle if you like or don't bring a botte. Noodles 101 on Ives is such a place.
I recently celebrated my birthday at Lamei Hot Pot. Take your time here. Soup is good for the soul. They do have drinks - and I enjoy a good drink - but was perfectly happy with tea. We went to Moniker Brewery after for one beer, which was perfect.
Everything in moderation, as they say...

Yeah but you gotta treck down to Providence (and pay Providence Parking, or deal with RIPTA to get to Kennedy Plaza and then get to the train station).
Keep a couple of more northern stops -- maybe Mansfield and Route 128 (both large stops and easily accessible from the highway) and it'd be a damn good park-and-ride though.
Of course Mansfield parking sucks for non-residents though....Attleboro has a ton of parking, but the streets leading up to the stop from the highway have a very limited capacity.
Housing outside the 495 belt has always been significantly cheaper than inside, but that tide is changing. We bought our house (Attleboro/Norton line) just 5 years ago and it's gone up nearly 40% in Zestimate since then.

Murphy’s Pub downtown makes a mean Ruben w/ pastrami, I’d imagine a straight up pastrami from them would be equally as good.

If you take the Amtrak it can be around 45mins bc it only stops back bay and south station. If the train is mostly empty/you buy way in advance it can be only $8 too which is cheaper than the T.

I used to commute from the South Attleboro stop into Boston, and even an express train was never 45 minutes. This would be so awesome.

As a non-drinker, for an evening date I’d opt for dinner. Maybe dinner and a movie at the Avon or Columbus. If you’re trying to avoid places where alcohol is served, that can be tough but people have had lots of great ideas here. Not in the city, but Cinemaworld Lincoln is also a good spot for a movie/bowling/arcade

It’s the offering from the cities that are participating in community choice aggregation (CCA). Together, they’re effectively saying, “we’d like to buy more renewables in our power supply, but keep the price low.” They got a bidder who was able to do that (in this case, it’s a 5% mix from NextEra) and now those of us in the CCA communities are all automatically being switched to that company starting in May. Unless you opt out for RI Energy, who provide no renewable power and are more expensive over the same time period.
