They're upgrading to become a real venue so they can attract more shows and not be at the mercy of mother nature quite so much

Good thought! Just called, looks like I’m not the only one seeing this.
Update: this went on for about 3 - 4 hours. Felt larger than an oil slick. But no official word where it was coming from.

Something was leaking oil all down Washington street last night, the whole street was covered from Greene to city hall. It's a busy street and I didn't think much of it at the time but I wouldn't be surprised if something leaked across town and this is the run off.
Complete speculation.

Rhode Island Hot Yoga or Providence Power Yoga are two good options

I once saw someone say, LONG before Covid, that Providence is a perfect example of how a city can do everything right and still not attract people downtown.

That's not great.
Might be worth contacting the EPA's National Response Center: 1-800-424-8802.

That's definitely an oil slick. Probably a result of runoff from all the rain washing off the roads.

Yeah. I was there a few weeks ago. The restaurant was pretty empty and it still took over an hour to bring out a couple of sandwiches, and they still forgot some items completely. None of the staff seemed to notice or care. Sucks when places close down but I’m not exactly shocked by this.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I am sure coffee syrup would be pretty damn good in Rumchata. Can add a second alcohol like vanilla vodka or maybe fireball or something for extra flavor.

Dels mix - outstanding with vodka and ice. You can even buy the cheap vodka. You can also make variations on lemon drop martinis using dels mix, so I imagine you could make a lemon shot using stronger mix.
Autocrat syrup -- I've had good luck making both mudslides and coffee martinis.

I went hunting for this!
Obviously not a recipe but worth buying the components and doing a bit of a taste test to get it right. :-)
ETA: I don’t think it’s in the comments — that cocktail is at Providence Provisions Kitchen & Bar at TF Green.

I lived on Westminster Street in 2008 a block from Yolenis. Moved to MA and returned last September to the same block. 2008 there was a fraction of the empty store fronts that there are now. It is pretty crazy, and sad to see.

If only we had a large number of housing unitsbeing built in a concentrated space that would fill downtown with more people who would spend money after regular work hours.

It'll do the reverse too though -- even more MA people moving to RI. Not that there is anything wrong with them (I did the same, decades ago). But RI housing is already breathlessly tight 😣

I wonder if David Cicillini returning and taking over a huge pot of money will help. He came to the Foundry Artists Show every year.

I have not been camping in the New England area yet, I’m off to Florida for this one. My friends and I go to a number of clothing optional naturalist campgrounds, and every one I’ve ever been to has been pretty relaxed on the drinking. This time around we have 60 or so folks coming out and about 12 are signed up for setting up shot stops outside their tents/cabins/RVs for Friday night. We just mosey through the area as a group and it’s a great way to meet new folks.
I have heard there are similar campgrounds/resorts up here, but don’t have any names/locations yet.
