I'd imagine a random weekend afternoon is the worst time. I've only gone a few times on Thursdays and it wasn't empty, but it wasn't a sea of divorced Dads trying to bond with the kids one last time before dropping em off at Cheryl's.

Agreed. I grew up in EP so I’d always have either Miller’s or Waltz. I just moved to NP and was recently introduced to Beef Barn and I can’t believe what I was missing out on. Miller’s and Waltz are both great but Beef Barn is next level and also like half the price

I see a lot of houses with signs for Amazon or other deliveries to go in the back.

Another option is the UPS store on Parsonage (probably other locations/services too) - it's $20 a month for a mailbox and you can receive packages there. When you pay for a year or 2 years up front you get a couple extra months free.

Food-wise; I’m a big fan of Sarto, Pane e Vino, The George, and Circe for business meals. Circe can have a bit of a “finance bro” vibe at the bar, which may or may not be a good thing for your meeting.

The Eddy, Red Door, and Lucky Enough are all bars with excellent drinks and really good food and would be my choices if I was traveling for business and eating solo - along with Murphy’s (who’s got a great French Dip and a solid beer selection). Gracie’s is probably our only “traditional fine dining” place, but New Rivers and Persimmon are every bit as good food-wise, just a bit more casual… but Providence is super casual anyway, as you’ve probably found.

Bump for Rory’s and Eno…

but there are also some excellent breweries in town that are worth a trip and sell beer to go. Moniker, Long Live, and Narragansett (seriously; this is not your father’s Gansett) are all in town and either walkable or a short Uber; Buttonwoods and Origin share a space about 10 minutes south in Cranston; Proclamation is down by the airport in Warwick. All those options sound intriguing — but the sandwich I'm looking for is peak flavor & peak simplicity: (med) rare road beef, kaiser roll, mayo, tomato, maybe shredded lettuce, maybe swiss cheese. It almost sounds boring, I know, but there’s roast beef — and then there’s Roast Beef. I'm looking for the sandwich that becomes your new standard.

Millers is one of the ones I’ve tried, and it was a little underwhelming.
