It might be walkable to get a coffee or go to a bar or restaurant but unless PVD gets a huge influx of high paying jobs parking and driving will be important and let’s not pretend that TJs is a grocery store that anyone will do they bulk of their family shopping at. When I was in the neighborhood I was commuting to Northboro MA and my neighbor was the dean of admission for Clark U in Worcester. We all choose to come to this city because it’s great at affordable but let’s not pretend it’s some walkable utopia that we can just pretend can exist without the residents having cars. Don’t even get me started about parking bans for residents without off street parking too…

Hey hey! I’m not sure if this is a good faith comment or not but I’ll respond like it is.
Kismet is a comedy theater, and our shows are all comedy shows. Our higher-level classes are focused on developing some of the humor and comedy skills to make these happen!
Our fundamentals classes focus on the basic skills needed to get you there - thinking on your feet, listening, supporting each others choices. These are all foundational for comedy, but are skills that everyone has and anyone can develop, regardless of whether you are funny or want to be funny. In these classes, you’re often encouraged to not even think or worry about being funny, because it gets in the way of practicing these critical skills. And - even more so, often the people who come into these classes thinking they don’t have any comedic chops end up being the most hilarious comedians down the line.

If you end up in the Pawtucket area, i recommend the Pawtucket Public Library as they have many different unique areas in that big building.

Compared to 5-6 years ago, the Jewelry District is really starting to look good. It used to be so barren over there, now it feels busy and thriving.

Reply to Anyone know what this big red ship with the white V is? Docked in East Prov, this picture is off the coast of India point park. I’ve seen it before, but it hasn’t been here recently. Just curious! by vodka_baby_nightmare
You can download apps (ie Marine Traffic) that show the boats anywhere at anytime. You can say origin/destination/country/name of boat, etc.
Right now there’s 2 cargo ships from Marshall Islands in Port of PVD. You can Google the names to figure out specifically what it could be (once there was a ship that transports Volkswagens from Europe). The red ship isn’t currently here.

The providence library downtown was renovated a few years back and I've heard it's beautiful. I used to go all the time in high school and it was great

I went to riffraff to read a few weeks ago and was really surprised at how bad the lighting is. Do they really expect people to read in there?

I'm a big fan of cemeteries for reading or painting in. Lots of shady trees that are changing color this time of year, no other people around to be disruptive for the most part. I recommend North Burial Ground in PVD.

Johnson and wales owns a pretty sizable chunk both on its harbor side and Downcity campus - plus it’s expanding and has a few smaller buildings throughout downtown and in that new development. It’s probably the same size as Brown when you put it all together. Plus let’s not forget PCs insular little campus

Brown is not planning any further expansion in the East Side, but does has plans to buildout more in the Jewelry District. Given the current state of that area, I don’t think too many people are disappointed by plans to expand there.

or.. we could invest in Transit. With the density of the Providence metro area, it's embarrassing how car-dependent we are.
