The Blind and Deaf School on Corliss St, I went once on a summer weekend pre Covid, didn't see any signs that it was open or closed to the public.
Providence College track on River Ave side, if I recall the signage it is open to the public with restricted times.
Right on the Cranston/Providence line in back of Roger Williams Park is an ok track open to the public.

It's going to be 75 on Sat. Go sit on the west side of the State House on the lawn. There's a few plastic Adirondack chairs out there for use as well.

Sad to hear. There’s been at least 1 other death in the park within the past decade or two.

Castle Hill Inn in Newport does a prix fixe Thanksgiving menu and it's one of the most scenic restaurants in the state.
In Providence, Red Stripe serves Thanksgiving dinner as well.

Yeah, it's not for a few weeks so it'll be colder then. Definitely getting out this weekend to take advantage of the nice weather.

I think they expect people to drink there. :) But they seem cool with people staying for long periods of time. The light hasn't been a problem for me so far.

Also just up the hill from there is Brown's John Hay Library which is also open to the public. (And in the entry, you can see a new page every day of one of the only complete folios of John Audubon's bird paintings)

I think the best moves are either to not do the email blast in the first place, or just say "while we don't know this person or what led to these tragic circumstances, <all that nice shit about checking in on people they closed with>"

it's supposed to be in the 70s the next few days so take advantage of the outdoors.
otherwise, the arboretum or the providence library.

There’s a large unhoused population in the park and it’s also a pick-up point for migrant workers—both of whom are vulnerable populations and likely why they specifically called it out. Contrary to saying they AREN’T from the neighborhood it implied to me that it’s saying the opposite and acknowledging the typical population at Dexter Park. It was a poorly phrased way of trying to be sensitive.

Here's one of the sites that shows which ships are in port, which have recently left, etc.

Yea that's all I'm saying. It sucks that there's no other legitimate option for living your life outside of your neighborhood without a car. It's an extra tax that people don't even consider

I’m 100% for better public transit. Anywhere outside of Boston requires a car to live, it’s like a death sentence to not have one. The amount of stress cars have caused me especially when I was near the poverty line is insane. I hate them but I have to use them all the same.

I remember a couple years back Pre Covid, there was a suicide right off the off ramp exit 23 North next to the Marriot. Followed the story for about a week no name no nothing given per any media outlet. Still unsure who that person was.
