I love the food and drink at Slow Rhode, it’s a pretty small place and has a variety of small plates and full entrees to choose from. There are a ton of bars and breweries within 1-2 blocks to extend the night as well (The Avery, Moniker, Bayberry).

The Sims area is also a nice place to spend a Saturday morning/afternoon. They have the farmers market year round, there’s a coffee shop, and across the street ISCO Spirits and Revival Brewery.

Back home, my vet had a office out of his house. I could call him at any point and he would rush to help me and make sure my dog was okay. When I went to vaccinate my dog for all shots it was never more than 120 dollars and he even had extra shots for like daycare compatibility. The reason I’m questioning River hospital, is they charged me 90 dollars for each giardia test and it was 500 dollars for only one round of shots for both of my dogs. I never expected my pets to be cheap but I’m also just skeptical about them bc it has felt like when I went in they were trying to get me to redo all of my puppy’s vaccinations he already got, it felt a little weird tbh. I’m all in favor for raising my pups with a good vet but my gut feeling felt like it was steep. I knew my vet back home was out of the norm but I felt like maybe people who have been here longer had an idea.

When was the last time you saw Providence police actually setting up and doing traffic stops in areas we all KNOW people drive like asshats?

Westminster, Manton, Harris aves just to name a few on the West side... They could just post up and stop it; the amount of tickets they could write would pay their salaries

Edit for autocorrect

Most of the offerings at TJ’s are their own brand. So they clearly aren’t applying much pressure on vendor’s to curb nutritional abuse or broaden more nutritious offerings. Of course not everything is bad, but I have high blood pressure (a common condition) and am concerned about sodium in prepared and frozen foods. I like fresh fish, but they are limited to farmed Atlantic salmon. Most of their beef is marinated in sauces high in sodium, and “low fat” offerings are few and far between. Packaging, which THEY control, aggressively uses hard shell plastic containers. They ship their re-usable grocery bags here from Vietnam. Fresh vegetables are a joke there - with virtually every green packed in plastic. Can you buy grains there? I don’t think so. I love some of the trail mix of nuts, seeds, and fruit, but there is 7 grams of added sugar in a 1/4 cup serving! My point is, they sell primarily prepared foods - with little concern for healthy recipes, so they are pedaling obesity and metabolic disorders to people who are not mindful. There is a lot to resist buying there.

Pick a direction to walk from your front door and explore your surroundings. Get familiar with your neighbors and let them see you. Look for the nearest places to shop, eat, hang out. Walk in and check them out. In even the least famous neighborhoods you will see funky or splendid old houses, trees, gardens, animals, weird miscellaneous creative stuff. Repeat the process. When you find some local favorite sights and places you can share them here!

I agree with what you said about there being a lot of bad food at TJ’s but my first thought was that that’s the case in every grocery store (not including small specialty health food stores). I mean Whole Foods, Stop and Shop, Shaws, East Side Marketplace, etc. I’m curious if you think Trader Joe’s is worse than all these other stores. I eat healthy and have no problem doing so by shopping at Trader Joe’s.

Stroll then length of Benefit St. amazing architecture from Colonial to Modern. Please visit the RISD museum-which is free on Sundays. The Atheneum is a must as well they have original Audobon prints . I would also strongly recommend the Providence River Boat Company. They have all kinds of tours and you really haven’t seen PVD til you’ve seen it from beneath street level
