Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with the business in any way, I just live nearby and am excited for tasty treats and coffee within walking distance.

Oak Bakeshop 'soft opened' this week, self-described as a "Jew-ish bakery and cafe." They've got pastries, baked goods, coffee as well as espresso-based drinks like lattes. I had a sticky bun and peanut butter & jelly cookie this morning and they were divine. Coffee is great too. There's no set menu but they have a decent spread of sweet and savory options so there will probably be something you'll like :)

They're over on Cypress & Camp and open Tuesday to Sunday, 7am - 2pm. As a heads up, if you want baked goods you'll want to go on the earlier side - I went on opening day around 11am and everything was sold out (still had coffee though!)

I mean more about post-white flight and the conversion to car culture. Cities became something you drive into and not something that is livable and workable.

The area by the pedestrian bridge is already revitalized and has been built up a lot since even the pandemic! You have to make the city exciting and livable to attract people to live and work here!

The current design of the city chops half of it off creating a physical segregation boundary between different neighborhoods. The amount of parking lots downtown creates expensive living conditions and fewer green spaces. The lack of city pressure on greedy real estate companies drives up COL and creates an obvious economic barrier for people to move here. Not to mention the ugly and untenable nature of the areas surrounding 95!

None of these things individually make a city boom, but all of them are especially attractive to young adults and new businesses. All of which aid in revitalizing and making a walkable (and more importantly LIVABLE) city atmosphere.

I was a huge fan of Anchor Therapy in Lincoln… they were doing telegraphy, but idk if they are still doing it

Edit: obviously I meant teletherapy… but I’m keeping it there cause it made me giggle!

No one in particular but I highly recommend seeing a psyD or a phd rather than a social worker (MSW) or other qualifications. Having someone who really understand psychology and not just mediation can be very helpful.
