It's not cake, they're basically pancakes but made out of boiled cornmeal. Way better than it sounds, but you need good butter and real maple syrup to eat them with.

There is a little Rhode Island/Providence gift shop at the TF Green Airport (if you fly into there instead of Boston) that has most of the things mentioned in this post. I got some coffee syrup and hot wiener sauce packet as gifts the last time I visited my hometown.

Since you’re in Providence, I really like Sin. All these recommendations for places in Warwick are kind of crazy to go that for just for some cupcakes, there’s a lot of great places here in town.

I see all these recommendations for Wildflour too in Pawtucket, I’m not GF or vegan and also love that place, everything is pretty damn good.

Former mayor and current congressperson Cicilline is involved with Clementine. Saw him glad handing guests and washing surfaces last time I went by.

All of the above and the recent addition of Clementine's. Went last week and they were inventive and balanced, cool new spot.

The Eddy, Courtland Club, Royal Bobcat, and the newly arrived Clementine are the best bars in Providence. The Avery uses entirely too much cheap ice in all of their drinks making everything watered down. I asked for a Paper Plane at Needle & Thread and they had no idea wtf it was.

Another vote for wildflower. Their carrot cake cupcake is up there with my favorites
