  1. Yesterday I (32M) was playing a video game called Crusader Kings II. If you don't know, it's basically a medieval role playing game where you play as a ruler and try to build your dynasty up throughout the centuries. I don't know how much I should get into it, but that's basically the gist of it. My wife (35F)isn't a gamer but she likes to watch me play games, or at least lay next to me in bed while I play. Sometimes she's on her phone, sometimes she watches and asks questions and I do my best to explain what I'm doing. I enjoy doing so, I like it when she cares about my hobbies and I try to do the same for her. Anyways, I was playing and she was doing the usual things, asking me what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. What happened, is my 40 year old Duke got suddenly widowed after his wife had an unfortunate incident with cancer, and my character was left without a wife, but more importantly, without an alliance. So I married him to the 16 year old daughter of the Frankish king in order to secure my dynasty and an alliance with one of the most powerful nations in Europe. Few minutes after I was explaining this I noticed that my wife isn't asking any questions. I look over at her and she's staring daggers at me. I ask her what's up and she says something along the lines of "16? That's disgusting." I brushed it off and said "Yeah medieval times were weird like that" and I thought that was that, but as I turned back to keep playing, she kept going. "Are there seriously no women your age you could marry?" "There are a few but in this game they're basically useless above a certain age except for alliances and stuff."
  2. After I said that, I started sensing that maybe I shouldn't have said it that way because she kept talking and it was like poison dripping with each word. How I'm being creepy, misogynistic, that women aren't for breeding because they're so much more useful for so many things. I tried telling her that it's just a game and that's how the game works but then I was being "dismissive of her opinion" and on and on and on. I told her that she was being ridiculous and she left the room. Today I was working from home and all day long she was being passive aggressive. Slamming doors, counters, et cetera. I saw her making eggs for breakfast and I asked her if she could make me some and she said "Do your own fucking cooking". This was all pretty irritating but around an hour ago she stepped over the line. One of my friends sent a picture with his 8 year old daughter, she saw it and asked "Who's she, your new girlfriend?". I snapped and told her that she's insane and left home. I'm sitting in a café right now writing this and I'm seriously lost on what to do. Like she's obviously being insecure about her age but to harbor this much anger over a game? This is seriously entering break up / therapy territory. I don't want to take any drastic steps because of course I love her to death but she's being so incredibly childish right now that it angers me to no end. Anyone been in a similar situation? Well of course not but maybe someone can shed some light on this for me? Was I being a creep?
