I 6'3 (21M) am dating a 4'11(20F). For background me and her met at church about a month ago! I had decided to become an athiest due to personal reason but finally I got the push to go to church. That's where me and her met and she was pivotal in helping me regain my faith. Back to the topic, me and her started dating about a week ago and I full of excitement introduced her to my friends today. They all acted nice to her, told her how cute she is and thanked her for playing a big role in my turning back to God. Yet a short while after we left they called me and started making fun of my girlfriend talking about how short she is (calling her a dwarf), And saying all sorts of mean stuff. Saying how it looks like I'm walking around with a baby. I choosing not to show how much this was getting to me, only laughed along nervously and they took It as a sign to keep on mocking, finally having been fed up I decided to hang up the phone. It put doubt in my heart, because I love this girl so much, and the height difference is not a problem to me at all. Should I just ignore my friends or are they right??
TLDR; introduced my significantly shorter girlfriend to my friends and they all mocked and laughed at our height difference.
Update: First, thank y'all for such amazing advice, this the first time posting on reddit, didn't think I would get so many replies, you all gave me so much to think about!
Met my friends today, they tried to bring up the conversation again, I flipped Told them that they really need to stfu, Told them their words hurt me because I thought they would be happy for me, and instead they talked shit about someone who is such a positive force in my life. They turned it on me saying that they "just want what's best for me" and that I should appreciate their honest input. Me being petty asf started saying all the negative things about their bodies (you notice things when u have known people for more than 2 years). Told them I didnt even know why they talked so much shit while my girl is better than them in every way possible. Told em that me and them are still friends because I really dont find them attractive enough to even try to f**k em (this did not sit right with them since they got teary eyed).
Okay So maybe I went a lil overboard with it!!!
Me and my girl talked and she let me know that her friends told her she was too short for me!! I told her f**k what anyone thought, I still wanted to be with her regardless!!!
So yeah, might need new friends, me ñ my girl are stronger than ever and
