Good afternoon everyone. I am 37f and my husband is 37m. We’ve been married for 12 years, and we have two kids together.

My brother in law (32m) recently moved close to us, and began dating “Julie” (27f). Julie is really nice, she’s a very sweet and pretty girl, and the issue is my husband gives Julie so much attention and showers her with compliments.

Whenever she’s around, he’s so interested in her life-he asks her questions about her job, her hobbies, her family, etc. He always compliments her, tells her she looks beautiful, etc. He does text her, I don’t know what they talk about.

For context, he doesn’t really compliment me anymore unless I outright ask him “How do I look” and even then he’ll generally just say “fine.” He doesn’t ask questions about my job or anything like that-and I HAVE spoken to him about this. He told me I was being ridiculous, and that he doesn’t need to give me compliments because I “should know” that he finds me attractive since he married me. He said that he doesn’t need to ask me questions about my life because he already knows everything about me.

It just makes me feel pretty insecure, and it doesn’t help that he apparently doesn’t seem to care about that.
