In I am naive I should be honest and a month into dating this guy, I googled his name saw the court case which was filed three years back Since he dint tell me, I told him i saw it online. He responded that she had come back drunk from a party and he had evidence she cheated, so all he did was push her but she hit her head.
In court however, the mother of his child alleged that my bf had hit her with a cooking pan. Only weird thing is the charge shows amended/reduced but it does say he did a few months jail time for it.
He said you can read the court notes but i couldnt see any since it was basic info only. Its been a year almost since the incident but it makes me feel a bit scared.
He hasn’t shown any signs of getting physicial yet even though we are a month into dating.
Update: Wow thank you so much for your amazing post replies! I got access to free court documents and although the first charge was strangulation suffocation, the final amended charge does show convictions of domestic assault and battery with modifiers…still a big red flag. Having never encountered a domestic abuser before, I learnt a lot and will be more careful and definitely google my next bf’s name first week after meeting him.
Tl:dr new bf from app has a strangulation and suffocation charge which he did time for, but says his ex exaggerated the charge.
