Why not go the crowd fund route and sell gift cards with a 1 year inactivation period? $50 today gets you a $50 gift card good starting 1 year from now.

I feel like people are far more willing to open their wallets in that scenario.

Oh the snacks, for sure.

Any VCU Dental students in here looking for new patients? My last lady graduated.

The food. This year I think we are sourcing all the snacks from Trader Joe’s.

My toddler decided he was ready to play at 4:45. I had a burst of energy, like being up in the middle of the night at work.

Now that I’ve relaxed, I’m ded

I need to take a time out from listening to the news. I can tell from just one podcast (NYT The Daily) that my heart hurts taking in the content. There is so little I can control in my environment but I do have the power to unsubscribe.

It used to be the booze, but now it's all about the grilled meats!

I'm not necessarily rooting for the Chiefs, but fuck the Eagles.

Thanks for making this the daily. I'm friends with the owner and don't want to see Yummvees end like this, not after how successful it's been and the hard work they've put into both the restaurant and helping others. I mentioned it on the post earlier, but the RVA Vegans FB Group is working on organizing an event at the restaurant to help out. They'll post and promote the details on their FB/IG when they've worked it out with the owner.

My favorite part is that I get to watch my team for the third time in my lifetime in the big game. Some aren't so lucky. GO BIRDS

Football is just not my thing, so nothing really catches me for the Super Bowl.

Best part about the Super Bowl is that football season is over and baseball starts next.

Love the Superb Owl parties. It's like second Thanksgiving. Husband is going all out with food prep bc we rarely have people over anymore. I always root for bird team, and think the chiefs should change their name like Washington had to, so go birds!

My cousin used to through a huge Super Bowl party with three TVs going in the house and all the foods. Good times.

The husband hates football so these days it's just me doing something else on the laptop and looking up for interesting plays and the commercials.

Yummvees catered my wedding this year and I was almost in tears during it because of how many things they messed up. I had multiple conversations with the owner leading up to it about how I wanted everything to be set up and served and it’s like none of that got translated to the team who was actually there. Some of the food was not prepared the same way it was during the tasting as well because they didn’t arrive early enough to prep properly. Having to manage the caterer when I should have been enjoying one of the best days of my life is not what any bride wants. Sadly, it’s one of the things I think about the most when I remember that day. It upset me so much that I will never go back to the restaurant.

Watched the state of the union last night. Biden knocked it out of the park!

As someone just getting into mountain biking, any recommendations on trails to try?

In a great mood as Dark Brandon owned the republicans last night. I don't want to watch as the Chiefs don't deserve to be there. AFC champ game was rigged (Salty Bengals fan). But I will watch and probably bet a few bets. Favorite part is probably the food and gatherings.

I am a fairly timid mountain biker, and in town I enjoy the poop loop and some parts of Forest Hill park (I'm not ashamed to walk whatever freaks me out). I've had some of my best days on the greens and blues on the Swift Creek trails at Pocahontas state park. I don't have the nerve to try North Bank or Buttermilk pretty much ever, and I'm okay with that.

If you're feeling super-adventurous, Snowshoe has some fun trails in the offseason, but that is neither close nor cheap nor accessible right now. Maybe something to work towards!

Since my team of choice is never going to be good enough to get to the Super Bowl again, my favorite part of the game is hanging out with my family. It’s not often that we can all get together, and the Super Bowl has just evolved into one of those occasions. I’m usually not too emotionally invested in the game, but it’s nice to have some snacks and bullshit around with my parents and my brother and whoever else stops by.

I get the sentiment seeing your favorite place in trouble, but if a business can’t sustain itself on its you know, business, then it’s time to close down. From reading the GoFundMe, it seems the owner has trouble managing her expenses and these donations are just gonna delay the inevitable.

As for the Super Bowl, I just hope it’s a good game. Supposed to be the best two teams in the NFL (in theory), but there’s nothing worse than a blowout championship.

That's awful to hear. Typically, in these scenarios it's anyone's guess as to what the truth is. In this case though, it seems to be commonplace for this business to not plan ahead appropriately.

Yeah that shit is brutal. Especially with food prices being what they are. I also appreciate that good vegan food is hard to come by, but opening a place like that in Chesterfield is...a choice.
