There are some tax credits (or rebates?) starting in 2023 on windows among other things to make a house more power efficient so fully understanding the tax offset and getting some prices is on the to do list. (I think it’s only $500 annually but there’s a few other programs as well…)

They’re all doing great. Was worried that the house settling would cause the windows to tighten up after a season of expanding and contracting but they still feel brand new after 14 months so far.

The price would be cheaper if we didn’t get a new front door. That alone was about $1600, I think (including the door itself).

if you can adjust it, this isn't a good time/temp to keep your house on 55, because of thermoclines. I would only do that if your insulation is excellent and your are sure your pipes are not in the outside walls.

The power bill for a couple of days is nothing compared to the literally unlimited amounts of damage possible.

And always turn off your house main water supply when you go out of town in the winter. Summer too, but especially winter

Found an exposed iron(?) pipe under the deck that lines up with the hot line inside. Wrapped that and used some fiber glass to fill in the gaps as much as possible. We'll see if that works.

I'm in. Family obligations on the 31st, but I could do Friday 12 or 4. If I were to curate a route for you, we'd go from Amelia St School, down colorado, through the cemetery, n bank trail to nickel bridge, around byrd park lake.

From my past reading on the CVTA, that money is just granted to the county and many of the other towns/cities/counties in the central Virginia area. Chesterfield I think is one of the largest recipients. But still it's not really given in a management capacity, it's considered revenue on the county budget. Interestingly VDOT maintenance isn't accounted for in the budget, which is something I've been trying to learn more about. Like how does VDOT allocate money per county and what is the invisible expense that isn't on the county ledgers because they fall under VDOT discretion?
