Saving species that we endangered, solely for our own benefit.

And if you live in an apartment/condo leave a phone number with your neighbor that you can be reached at in case there’s an emergency.
My mom’s condo had water leaking in after the neighbor’s hot water heater leaked over the holiday while she was out of town and we couldn’t reach her until the following business day which was like two days a later when we could finally reach someone at her office to get them to call her for us.

A friend and I did a 1x1x24 around this time last year and had a blast. I’d join you for a loop or two, but I’m heavily pregnant this year. Good luck!

A few years ago I had a pipe break in the middle of the night so it was only going for a few hours. I don't even want to think about a few days.
I isolated and drained outside spigots and irrigation system. Furnace was kept on at normal temperature so I should be ok.

Anyone know when they went in at Belvidere? Those crosswalks have gutters in them that are bad for pedestrians and cars.

Same! Super glad to have our oil baseboard heating right about now. We are all nice and toasty!

This is also why we are setting up regional tax for transportation. Tourism is also handled at the regional level

I can’t imagine coming home too that. I turn mine off at the meter by the street. It’s easier than in the crawl space.

Amen. I just did this before I left town on Friday.
I actually installed a valve where the water comes into my house, with a hose attached, so I can drain my entire water pipe system in a few minutes.
A few years back, I didn't do this and came home after a 3 week trip in January, to the terrible sounds of water spewing.

Turn it off at the main and drain the system from the lowest sink. If power goes out there’s no or little water in the pipes to freeze.

I agree with you that mismanagement is the problem but you’re missing the nuance of my point while lecturing me on things i’m already keenly aware of. Our poor roads haven’t just been a problem the past few years because of just mismanagement, it’s been an ongoing problem that STARTED with the tax base being crippled and has now continued on as we have elevated our tax base. If you want to nitpick what exact year between 2008-now go for it, but i’m not arguing that the tax base is currently decimated.

The last few years is selling it short - since the Great Recession it’s been trending upwards. The mismanagement is the underlying problem- the tax basis excuse is worn out and needs to be retired (the lack of improvement when the basis has been expanding demonstrates it as not being the ‘cause’). Poor leadership in the elected positions (primarily) and bureaucratic positions (secondary) are the both the constants and the causes.

A homie in Randolph left a fossil dripping but still froze. He used a space heater but burst his pipes. Raining in his basement right now.
Be safe out there.

Do you have neighbors who can turn it off?
