Champagne actually does pair well with fried chicken. And really.....it pairs well with a lot of food. It's customarily been used for toasting celebratory events and as an aperitif, but it's actually good during dinner a lot of the time. It's also good out of a normal Riedel wine glass, skip the flute.

I think because its not a well known chain and it being the only location in VA people just default to think its something local.
