>very cutting remark about my thinning hair

I'm glad it worked out in the end, but fuck. I dealt with every manner of shitty customer as a bartender and I guess it never occurred to me to be like "you know what would make this gross, contentious situation even better? A personal insult solely for the sake of hurting feelings."

The owners/managers were cited for sexual assault numerous times and were otherwise abusive to their staff. Good riddance, burn in hell, et cetera.

Jeez man… Feel like you’re being overly tough on them. We don’t know how underdressed she was or if they had umbrellas, but it’s 100% normal and expected for people to dress down when going to packed clubs that don’t have coat checks. Standing in a normal line for 15 min like any of us would expect at a show might have been fine, but it sounds like the club advertised an earlier show, or at least didn’t make it clear what time it was starting, then didn’t let people in til midnight. These are probably kids and honestly OPs post is pretty self aware, all things considered. They could have made better decisions, but this club fucked them over

So, the majority of your post is 💯 unfortunate and it sounds like a legit bad show and a sucky promoter.

That said, we really should address this part as a Teachable Moment™ for you and others:

> We walked in the heavy rain and cold (38-40 degrees) to this venue […] hypothermia is an understated and very real risk from this situation. My girlfriend happened to be underdressed and we stood in line for an hour (thinking we were late) until 11:20 when we couldn’t take the wait. Her lips were blue, and she was soaked. […] We waited for an hour in the rain and cold and didn’t even make it halfway.

My siblings in [deity or superfluous omnipotent object of your choice], that is completely on you two. Unless you’re under 15 and still living with parents/guardians and need a permission slip to stay out late at night, nobody else is going to dress you. It was cold and raining pretty much the entire day and this wasn’t a surprise little change in the weather.

It is fully your responsibility to check the weather/conditions before going out to make sure you have what you need to protect yourself from the elements.

Just because the venue and security people were moving the line along very slowly doesn’t mean they are responsible for your poor clothing decisions and lack of layers.

I’m glad this completely-preventable case of potential hypothermia didn’t result in an ER visit or worse and I hope it was a lesson learned on how to better prepare next time.

If anything, I guess be glad you bailed before making it in to see a fake show and be even angrier you had a really bad time to apparently see 3 lip-sync songs.

I’ve got family buried there, and I always find it so sad when I hear it’s been vandalized. Such a beautiful final resting place, I wouldn’t dream of defacing it, rather any cemetery.

I actually lived in Guam for 1 year…. I did not enjoy it. But it also could have been because I had lived in Richmond for my entire life up until moving 12,000 miles across the world. Humid as fuck there. I will say I don’t recall mosquitos being my biggest worry there. It was the damn large ass toads that littered our yard at night.

You’ll lose your staff before you get to your close date. Also, it’s common enough for closing restaurants to stiff their purveyors that as soon as they find out you’re closing, a lot of places will either put you on COD and demand immediate payment of anything you still have on balance (most of the time you’re on 30-day terms) before they’ll do tomorrow’s delivery, or they’ll just cut you off entirely.

I’m a big fan of their pool and sauna. The workout room is nice and open now, which makes it a lot more spacious compared to before. It’s a YMCA, so it’s not too fancy, but after having the same layout for the past 30 years, it’s nice to have mostly everything brand new.

I heard the show in Richmond was going to be a live feed of the one in Massachusetts, but IDK if that's true.

Edit:. Not true. He showed up in person eventually. Some of the commenters on that Insta link waited 5 hours in the cold rain!

If they sold tickets to a show where the main advertised performer wasn't going to be present, I'd say there's room for a class-action case against the club assuming people want to go through the effort.
