I used to live at that 21st and Main intersection and really expected it to be on this list.. I was there from 2015 to 2018 and I recall at least 3 that I saw with my own eyes and figured that I wasn't around for several more. I'm very surprised that there wasn't more than 6 between 2015 and 2022.

Edit: Nevermind, I looked at the image better and see that these are crashes involving pedestrians... I don't specifically recall anything happening with pedestrians there, though I certainly would require more than my two hands to count the close calls I personally had as a pedestrian.

It’s not just drivers. The pedestrians act like idiots over there. I’ve seen some dumb shit at that number 2 intersection. I had two girls run into the middle of it to pet my dog when I was on the OTHER side of Broad from them, without checking for traffic once. That was my first FB live encounter.

The amount of people that try to cross Broad there without checking for traffic is baffling.

And all the food delivery drivers who park in the middle of an active lane and just throw their flashers on don’t help.

Ah gotcha. I lived in Boston for a couple years… I think slumlords are more common in large metro areas. I infinitely prefer the housing market in RVA for sure.

That being said, TBH I agree with your point about faceless corporations. I do kind of prefer them because I lived in a large, professionally managed building in Boston and it was great. Maintenance was fast and responsive. As opposed to the local landlord owned place I moved to where my stove didn’t work for SIX WEEKS. And he sold it to some guy in Japan halfway a few weeks into our lease so getting in touch for that maintenance was a total nightmare.

I think it's kind of subjective - if you are used to riding roller coasters of all kinds then the local theme parks (fun as they are) probably won't give you the rush you're looking for.

Paddling the river could do it if you're not used to low-class rapids (depending on which parts of the river and what type of boat/trip you take, also the flow rate).

Otherwise, there's skydiving options within about an hour or two in at least 3 directions from the city.

Or, perhaps you get adrenaline from other means - I think there's a local improv comedy workshop around that eventually has you performing live.
