I've had very good pork there. And great brisket. And not so good brisket.
ZZQ is getting less reliable sadly

Anything SP related gets downvotes for some reason. It's silly, but it's reddit. I don't live in SP but many many people do. If it sucked so bad, why do so many people love it there?

I ended up having to go to Dulles back in 2018, having discovered the same thing. Definitely know what you're going through, it sucks

ugg, I wanted to do that. Is driving to DC necessary?

You had four meals at Texas Roadhouse for under $50? It's fast food quality steak but I still find that hard to believe.
$50 would be $12.50/person including taxes and tip but the cheapest steak I see on their menu is $13, chicken meals also start at $13.

Curious that this article describes the reception to this statue in 2003 as “mixed” when I distinctly remember significant protests against a statue of Lincoln that included a plane dragging a flag around the unveiling that if I recall correctly read “Sic Semper Tyrannus”. Or something to that effect anyway.
Probably just pure coincidence Booth shouted Virginia’s motto after assassinating Lincoln and a plane with those words was flying at the unveiling of this statue though.

You don't need an appointment when you are flying back into the US. Look up "interview on arrival." Definitely the easiest way to get it done.

I am seriously missing the Pizza Goldfish.
They seem to have disappeared and no one seems to care! They have the flavor blasted but it’s just not the same.

There aren't going to be any more hidden jewels--it's just too expensive to live in the big cities any more outside maybe Chicago. I used to work for a company with an LA office and a coworker of mine wanted to be a house flipper, when she showed me a granny flat for $1 million my East Coast mind thought it was on the beach... no, it was by a random highway exit.

This has been my experience as well. I've been here a long time but grew up in DC and have lived in other cities and on both side of thing Richmond is awful. The drivers are bad, the bikers are bad, the pedestrians are bad. None of them seem to pay any attention to anything.

This is me about to get priced out of a building I’ve lived in for two years in the name of granite countertops and silver appliances and I’m so stressed out about it.

still great. Still very affordable for what it is. Much more expensive than it used to be. But the secret was always going to get out

Not sure why the downvotes here - with a car, it's easy enough to stay in Short Pump and get into downtown within about 20 minutes at any time of the day other than weekday rush hour, and having a car in the city is convenient enough.
Are there more compelling hotels in the city, and will it be a better experience? Sure. But there's often a $200+ dollar a night price difference between what's available in the city, and what's available out in the suburbs. If that's the difference between making the trip work and not, then stay out in the suburbs and come on down.

Huge property tax increases,
Plus not enough housing stock for all the people who want to live here.
Plus general inflation
