this isn't true. Munford would like a word even before.
Look at Foxs demographics after the rezoning, facts matter.
There are a lot of myths about Fox which are based on weird emotions, not rationality and facts, as this shows. It's almost like people are insulted by the idea that RPS has some functional schools, and want to drag them all down to the same level of dysfunction

I think you got me confused for some other person.
I certainly think we need to be cognizant of how government officials can abuse their power and waste my tax dollars, but I'm certainly not an ACAB person. I want more cops.

Iinaytanii is right (and so are you). The mountains are nice, and North Carolina isn't the worst, but Virginia is much better.
I'm from Richmond (hence my being in this sub), and it's my preferred mid-sized city.
Raleigh/Durham is a vast suburban hellscape that will seemingly never stop growing. The people here are largely transplants because of the biotech industry. This causes it to feel very southern-in-name-only to me.

it's a thin line. I think part of it is a lack of trust in RPS etc to design new schools that are attractive. We know Fox was

You can reach out to Richmond public works but they’re in a racket with Sieberts towing so I doubt you get anywhere. You could have video evidence and they’ll still just say they had signs up

I don't think it's some great injustice that Happy Trees got brought down.
My issue is that it doesn't feel like there are the appropriate amount of resources being allocated to a situation I think is far worse. Happy Trees is just a case of visible misallocation of resources to me.

My only qualm with this thread and I agree to the above statement. As a person from Radford now living in Richmond this is accurate, Radford & VT &UVA solely keep those towns they are in alive. VCU/VUU/Richmond dropped out of the city they would still be a city with large employment opportunities. Soooo hard agree Richmond isn’t a college town - it’s a city with colleges within.

We get them in our yard a few times a year. Had one mom lay eggs even, that was fun to watch. Beyond that, always seem them in like every state park we visit that has lakes.

A bunch live in the pond at the center of Forrest Hill Park, often they sit on the logs protruding from the pond but after a big rain you can find them all over the park since so much of it floods

The Happy Trees dude only got nailed because he was flaunting the law hard. They probably would have left the pop ups alone if they hadn't branched out into shrooms and stuff. They were very quickly morphing from a pot based grey market to a black market, and within a few months probably would've gone full Hamster Town based on the trajectory. He's like the last person we want to be the face of legal retail weed.
I'll be the first to say RPD routinely has their priorities messed up, but let's not pretend some great injustice was brought down on Happy Trees.

Sadly this is true. They often do it in groups too. One is selling. One controls money/gun. With optionally a lookout. Then someone drives by every so often to pick up cash to make sure they aren't holding so much that they become a target to other criminals. Also police can't get them with possession & firearm or confiscate too much money as the dude with the money hasn't done anything apparently illegal.
Occasionally you'll see a Porsche or Ferrari pull up and talk to them. I wonder if those are just rich dudes buying drugs or the people running the show. I think the latter since they seem to stay and chat and I never see them buy.
I think if they were inconvenienced enough by being arrested so often, they would at least move their operations. I imagine moving operations would result in a hit to sales.
But I'm sure RPD doesn't want to increase their simple possession charges.

Reply to A rare look inside (the slow) work to rebuild Richmond’s Fox Elementary School by Charlesinrichmond
Fox is the wealthiest public elementary school in the city. The fact that some poors are there doesn’t negate this fact.
It doesn’t make sense financially or otherwise to rebuild buildings that are this old or this destroyed. The building was old but not historic.
One of Richmond’s main problems is the condition of its school buildings. Mold. Leaks. Collapsing features.
The mayors major political right was to build some schools very quickly at 1.5 times the cost. This cost him the power to build schools as it is the school boards now.
There is a long history in this country of using things like “historic” and “walkable “ to segregate schooling.

Brevard/Asheville are great. Charlotte has its perks.
Raleigh/Durham “Triangle” is a vast suburban hellscape. It’s miles upon miles of 6 lane roads, stoplights, strip malls, and office parks. If you turned Microsoft Word into a city, it would be the triangle. It’s one of my least favorite cities I’ve ever been to in my life.

Immediately prior to Brun was Po' Boys, which I thought was a great idea. Who doesn't like giant sandwiches? I think COVID torpedoed them before they could build a clientele.

I’m not real big on seafood I won’t lie. However I do enjoy some good fishing. I just usually give all my fish to whoever brought me out on their boat.
