The DGSC site is not far from a family members home. We've been to the site and the monitoring wells are still in use. There's a creek nearby and you can still smell chemicals and see a sheen.

Lunch/Supper gets a lot of flak lately for good reason, but I was starving one morning and wandered over to give it another shot for brunch. The bar setup is weird- you have go through the patio and into the restaurant and check to see if there is room at the bar, and if not, you do a walk of shame back out. BUT the jalapeno short rib cheese grit bowl was to die for, seriously. It was savory and delicious and slightly eclipsed some of the mediocre meals I've had there over the past few years.

Is there any indication of when we’ll get another El Niño winter? Warm winters / early springs are for the birds.

I’m working tomorrow so I will be postponing celebrations until Sunday. Or late Saturday if I have the energy.

You could always volunteer. There are a couple of conservation oriented groups here where you could help in planting natives trees, removing invasives, testing the water quality of the river, or otherwise restoring habitat

No doubt we get at least one more hard freeze to really fuck up all the blooms and agriculture before spring actually starts

My doggy is sick again and this time seems bad. She had abnormal bloodwork yesterday, so next week they're going to be doing various things to rule out/in cancer. Poor ole girl.

They’re invasive and I agree…, but only if there are concrete plans to replace them with something native.

I do have to admit they’re gorgeous trees in bloom and I wouldn’t want to see that area treeless

Recently went back to Alewife and everything was perfect - especially loved a sunchoke bisque. Our waiter, who we’ve had before, was a delight as always. Props also to Alewife for great NA mocktails.

Had a pretty good brunch recently at Lillie Pearl, the fried chicken French toast was a good blend of savory/sweet - but I’m going back to try that short rib breakfast burrito. Pretty decent virgin Bloody Mary was imbibed, as well.

I had a special celebration dinner at The Stables (with a gift card), and it was incredible. The food was amazing. Staff was friendly and attentive but not annoying. I keep thinking about when I can go back.
