Good let them, when a new stadium is built and MLB comes begging to be in the number #1 market again maybe Richmond can demand a share of the profits rather than being the MLB’s sugar daddy

And the Squirrels are absolutely going to leave if they don't get new stadium. The Tides have been in Norfolk since 1961. We lost the R-Braves in 08.

Plenty of studies that show stadiums are a net loss for every city that’s ever built one

Has to do with the fact that from a restaurant POV it's the easiest to pick up from and has a great selection. Could you imagine being a restaurant and picking up 24 cases of liquor from the main St or Shockoe location, not ideal.

The Squirrels have better attendance than a lot of other events in Richmond. The attendees need to be taxed, not the residents of the city. It's crazy how the ticket prices have gone up without any benefit. Is it ticketmasters fault? I paid a hefty price the last time I went, but to be fair it was on the 4th of July and the fireworks show was better than usual. I remember getting decent seats for 16 dollars a few years ago.
The area does benefit having the games, I'm sure the nearby restaurants are packed before and after games.

I am always so grossed out by the food smell on my clothes after Bacchus, and Pinky's is the same way. Helen's can be like that too. However, I love the places too much to not go, so I've resigned to the stink. I've never heard anyone mention it before so I feel seen.

Had dinner at Longoven's new Italian concept, Lost Letter.
They're located in front of Longoven and, while I don't think the decor changed too much, it felt cozier for some reason.
The focaccia bread was unreal. We paired it with a few dips, but the bagna cauda was the standout. The stewed cabbage was also incredible and almost had a meat-like texture. We were unfortunately too full for dessert, but I heard their tiramisu is really good and I plan to go back for the spumone they serve on Sundays.
The drink menu is fairly limited, but the curation is spot on - all of the wines we tried were amazing. I wish they'd post specials and menu updates more often, but I get that it changes frequently enough that that's probably not sustainable. Overall, I'd give it a solid 8.75/10.

I've felt that way every time I have been there too. Pre and post Covid.

Their non-IPAs are incredible too though.

Sidenote, has any restaurant in Richmond ever opened on time? It never takes just a few months to order and redesign everything, hire staff, and train them.

Beer is good. Food is mediocre. I've been there multiple times. Every time it's taken close to an hour and a half to get pizza. I got food last night that came out undercooked.
I had to go to the bar order drinks / get refills. Server never checked on us after we got our food.

SoooOOoo....her name is Leskimi Nair, but before you go searching for her, I have to give disclaimers - It's not in English and only some of the videos have English subtitles. She also does a crap ton of filler talking. Additionally, most of the recipes will probably be unfamiliar to you bc Indian restaurants around here are North Indian. Shaan Geo's videos are better bc there's no filler talk. The ingredients are written in English so in theory you should be able to follow along even with the language barrier. But same disclaimer about the recipes.

I spent my first few years here thinking when people talked about PBR they were referring to a location of the chain PBR country bars. Locations – PBR Cowboy Bar

There are lots of Latino markets on 33, and one in Ashland at Rt. 1 and 54. Usually a pretty reliable place for this stuff.

Website still says they’re only ever open until 3pm, maybe they use the space for private events making it appear open later from time to time.
Edit: checked their FB, apparently they have Thursday night dance parties and trivia in the evening from time to time.

Russians and Finn's like to party hard on public transit for sure. We also did an overnight cruise from Helsinki to Stockholm and that was all party time as well.
