Lion's Den seems to be in a much better spot, I bet the rent is WAY less than a fan spot.

So now we only have two cigar bars?

Also, I can recall when the Fan used to be working class families and students, it changed a lot. It lost a lot of rental units to people turning rentals back into single family mansions,

It lasted about 4 years until they moved on down the River. In the end, people would experience the unusual witness to urban wildlife when three different species of wing raptors would show up. Red-tails, Falcons, and Cooper Hawks. They would perch and wait until the Purple Martins would roost and then strike, and capture one, fly off to feed their hungry chicks. Part of nature.

I would take Moore Street over McLeans. Better vibe, faster service, and sorry for bringing politics into it, but if such things matter to you, McLeans is super Trumpy, always has Glen Youngkin there anytime he needs a photo op in a diner setting.

McLeans used to have a great chicken fried style steak but switched over to a frozen one. Moore street also has a frozen one, but when I asked at Moore they told me so.

I went for many years and loved it, then went back last October, it sucked so hard we haven't been back.

Like, we made a point of getting take out multiple times during the pandemic because we loved the place so much and wanted to support it.

Our visit was right when the new owners took over so hopefully they have pulled out of the tailspin they were in.

I was going to post that we went to Metzger’s and had the worst meal we’ve had in a long time - we’ve been there in the past and loved it. But after this we will never go back.

Started with the house red - meh Shared two starters sweet potatoes were barely cooked through enough to eat and the cashew tahini had zero flavor to it.. Radicchio Salad was good but was so salty that the salt lasted with me all night as if I’d been to Texas de Brazil and only eaten the meat….

We split the hanger steak as an entree - it was WAYYY under cooked, I like rare but we ordered medium for my girlfriend and it was more rare than even I would like. It was tough to cut with a steak knife it was so rare. Cassoulet beans were the best flavor all night but there was maybe 1 fork worth of it for each of us. The chard alliums were beyond bitter and beyond charred. And the portion was horrible.

All this pleasure for $100 before tip without even ordering 2 entrees. There wasn’t 1 dish prepared in a way we’d want to eat it again.
