Had a major craving for Indian food this past month. We tried out Nama and Jannat. Neither disappointed. For the one visit each I gave Jannat the edge but will repeat either one

I used to pick up orders for a bar in shockoe and we always used Elwood despite the distance. They just had better products on hand without having to order them in advance.

Another Round or 2 Bar and Grill out in Manquin. It’s a bit of a hike, but it’s got a much countrier feel than it’s other namesake in Richmond.

Yeah I've never once in my life pondered if I want to wait in a line for an hour to pay $70 for BBQ or if I want late night Mac and Cheese. There's demand for more than 3-5 restaurants, particularly casual restaurants, in Scott's Addition.

And before the braves moved out after years of terrible play we had the yankees farm team. If we go down to single a that would be fine too. We cant make terrible financial decisions based on fear of change.

The fiesta is good but my fav is broccoli and mushroom. Haven’t tried them all yet. I think the chicken strips could be better. Next time get the Mac and cheese there and run thru chick fil a and add nuggets!! The desserts are AWESOME!

The food at Stella's looks so yummy! Unfortunately when I called them they said they only take max 8 people and the private space is for 20 minimum, and our group is at 13 lol. It's a bummer because it seemed like a great place for the occasion

Doesn't surprise me. Used to hit up Ipanema for karokee and that was a full on "hipster" scene and those kids knew the word to every common country song. Ton of people in Richmond like the likes of Tyler Childers or Sturgill Simpson and what not.

The one at 3100 W. Broad is convenient and has better parking, and is a very short distance from Thompson. I find myself pulled to the Thompson store to find some things I never see at other locations, but I will welcome this new location because that Ellwood's parking lot is a war zone.

A round up of places the last few weeks:
Uliveto: Totally fine, almost exactly the same menu as Gersi. Wouldn’t go out of my way to go again but wouldn’t protest if someone suggested it. Like Gersi, the wine is awful and the food is forgettably OK.
Botanya: Hilariously bad. Price points are insane for what you get. If a restaurant has an entire wall made of fake plants, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Bacchus: I have such a soft spot for this place that I easily forgive the bar service, or lack there of. There are so many things they could do better but I don’t care and don’t want them to change, I love it.
Leja: First time back in a year or so, just as good as it always is. Sonny is a total sweetheart.
Big Chile: Didn’t expect much when we walked in but damn, it’s really as good as people rave about. Had a shrimp burrito the size of my forearm.
The Mill: Went twice after they announced they were closing. Such a bummer, the food was never anything to rave about but it’s such a great neighborhood spot.

City hall is notoriously poor at providing necessary documents in a timely manner. It's a major barrier for businesses here.
Jamaican buddy said it was easier to open a business in Jamaica than Richmond, because at least he knew who to bribe and how much.

Very true, I hope they make it. But they could totally exist alongside all of those places.

I might be in the same boat, most places I have lived country bars have been a pretty mixed or politically neutral crowd

Not a bar, but if you are new to town, the former Innsbrook After Hours has tons of country shows in the summer as well as the Sportsplex in the summer. Tyler Childers came to Friday Cheers a few summers back. You’ll never see TC for 5 bucks down at the river again.
