Not praising our police department, but I really do think if they genuinely thought that this was an ongoing danger to the public and we were all at risk of being murdered if we set foot near that area, they would have said something. Safe to assume no comment about risk level is a good thing.

Unfortunately that doesn’t help in medical emergencies, but I catch your drift.

Agree 100%, his comment is truly sickening.
I know that stretch of Osborne, just South of the 7-11 per the article. There is no issue with visibility there, plenty of room, only issue I can think of would be being impaired or distracted.

Decided yesterday to take a job offer up in New Hampshire so I guess I'll be busy packing stuff up and getting the house sale-ready for the next couple of weeks. I'm not looking forward to moving but I am excited to live up there.
Super sad to leave the life I built and the friends I made here, I'm a little old to have to do it all again.

Never thought of spraying to keep carpenter bees out. Does it work well?

Asshole cat jumped a baby gate to let me know at 545 he was hungry. Little shit has been locked in the litter room for about two hours now.
Today: watch it rain and do some painting and baking.
Tomorrow: finish all of the yard work. Get the lawn chemicals down. Spray the wood with stuff to keep the carpenter bees out. Finish the compost bins. Maybe a bike ride.

yeah, that’s fair. there a coffee shop i go to in nova that’s often just a sea of people on laptops - i think i’ve seen people there just chatting maybe once or twice.

Same.
Conversely, I think I would enjoy my local coffeeshop a lot more if I could get a seat while I eat. Instead, it's clogged by WFH-types exploiting the false economy of the coffeeshop bench.

this is how i justified it as well. plus, cafés are typically noisier and less comfortable to sit at for long periods of time. i could do a morning or afternoon at a coffee shop, but certainly not a whole day.

fwiw blanchard’s has bottomless coffee for like $3.50 (iirc)
they don’t exactly advertise it, but if you get a drip coffee “for here,” it’s bottomless

kinda sorta imo
i tried coworking at the libbie mill library and the wifi literally didn’t tick above like 2 or 3 mbps. zoom calls and downloads were literally impossible.

preface: i’m not a paid shill for gather; i just really struggled socially and mentally from working at home and having gather as an office has been a great decision
i’m also a remote worker and tbh joining gather at the pay-as-you-go tier has been a great decision. the one i go to downtown is basically all i’d want in an office:
- right next to a pulse stop
- bottomless coffee (that’s actually good!), as well as nitro cold brew
- beer taps open every day at 4pm
- cozy office with high ceilings
- great patio, for when it’s nice out
- typical office stuff (microwaves, printer(!), phone booths, etc.)
- cool staff who throw lil events every few days
- etc etc
i’d tried previously going to cafes and libraries to work, but neither really cut it - cafes always had annoying music with no privacy, and wifi at the library sucks. considering all the amenities they provide, the cost for gather is actually kinda reasonable imo, but i justify it (which is a bit high) bc of how much i personally value having a “second place” to go to for a full day (and being around others literally at all during the day) and the fact that my salary is higher than it would be if i was working someplace in-town.
there are still days that i’ll spend half a day at home and half at a coffee shop, but for my money, a proper coworking space is worth the investment.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes hours away.
Your safety is your own responsibility. Stay strapped.

we have murders regularly all over the city. certain areas have multiple murders happen over the course of months or even weeks. those areas don't get constant updates after every murder, so why is this one supposed to get more shared info & statements than other areas/neighborhoods get?
I am one of the people tht criticizes our police constantly & will gladly point out lots of reasons I believe there needs to be major changes, but the inability to give daily updates about one specific murder isn't something I'm gonna jump behind when there are much bigger communication issues tht RPD has problems with.

No police force anywhere does this. Why qoukd you expect RPD to? They're too busy framing people for mass shootings and inflicting brain injuries on innocent autistic kids to do anything helpful.

For comparison, $3 coffee * twice a day * 20 business days in a month = $120. That is already greater than the "pay-as-you-go" monthly membership dues at gather (which includes free coffee all day).
Op should just join a paid co-working space.

If 911 actually answers in the city right now that would be a step in the right direction currently. Calling 911 and holding for 30 minutes is incomprehensible

Hull Street, dude riding the wrong direction and wearing headphones clips the front of my car as I am waiting to pull out. I sure wasn't telling cops I was responsible.

>What’s wrong with “I fucked up, I’m responsible?”
To be fair, most people wouldn't publicly say this while court cases/insurance investigations are pending.
Maybe he's recklessly negligent driver or maybe it really was just an unfortunate accident, but admitting fault is a terrible idea.
