Flying in bad weather always made her nervous. Each bump was coupled with distant lightning strikes. Turbulence made her desperately fight by the urge to grab the hand of the passenger in the next seat. Little did she know that her plane was part of several holding outside of the airport waiting for a chance to land. When the sky cleared each one would touch down unleashing a torrent of checked bags on the two men responsible for unloading the planes. Perhaps if she flew another airline the nightmare would be over sooner, but in the confines of this banana bus the real storm was about to begin. The two men barely knew each other, but knew enough that liking each other was out of the question. Hours passed as they crawled on their knees into the bellies of the planes pulling bags, dropping them on a cart, and then undoing it a few feet later onto the conveyors. When the carousel finally stopped and the attendant pulled the last unclaimed bag for storage she took one last walk and knew… just knew… she would have to file a claim form.

the president's "air force one" comes here to practice takeoff and landing, once a year a big russian plane lands and fills up with cigarettes, it's a huge cargo port, but what you should write about is how the food selection is fucking terrible

RIC is a nice little 2 terminal airport and all the employees are helpful and I have been using it for twenty years and have never had a gripe especially compared to BWI, IAD, etc. I guess you could complain about it being twenty minutes from downtown Richmond or not having a underground or tram to the downtown area?

Did you know that RPD has people who are paid to do these sorts of things? I mean, it’s actually their job. And at least one of them was a well-known journalist in Richmond prior to joining the RPD.

This is one of the reasons why I expect more. It’s baffling to me that people think this is an unusual expectation. Sure, on the order of the list of problems with the RPD has, it’s certainly lower on the list of priorities. But there are people we are paying to do this very job, and only this job.

One time (before I lived in Richmond) I was flying from NYC to Raleigh and we almost ran out of fuel because of headwinds, so we had to make an emergency landing at RIC. It took so long to refuel the plane that we weren’t allowed to take off again because it was after midnight. Some people tried to rent cars to get home but it was so late none of the car rental places were open. Finally the airline chartered us a bus to get us to Raleigh. It was hilariously dumb.

Just think of all the “should I love to RVA 🤔” posts you will no longer have to see!

Best of luck with the move! As someone who has moved a lot in the past decade, moving can suck but is also a nice way to hit refresh and throw out stuff you don’t need anymore.

You’re kidding about the first sentence, right? Police departments are constantly stating whether or not someone was apprehended, if a suspect or person of interest has been identified and if there is any risk to the public. It happens daily all over this country.

This is actually going to be tough for you because RIC is a nice little airport that most people never complain about. I suppose if anything's a bummer, at least in the circumstances of what you're writing, it's that there are limited food options available during off hours.

Meanwhile, pressers are held to spread lies. It’s laughable that you use this argument in light of the VAST amounts of commentary the RPD has made over the past two years.

In general, I agree with the ongoing investigation commentary thing, however please explain how an investigation would be compromised or any additional litigation risk beyond what the RPD already seems comfortable with would be incurred by stating: “Our investigation continues and we believe the any risk to the public as a direct result of this incident has passed.”

>Kind of weird OP that you’ve made 3 posts about this one particular shooting but none about the dozens of shootings in Gilpin/Mosby/Hillside/etc that occur every year.

It’s not weird at all. I don’t have residents of any of those neighborhoods hitting me up for information, nor do I have information on the vast majority of those shootings which indicate that there is additional information which could be probably be made available to the public without risk to an investigation. And I don’t think you’ve done a very thorough job of reviewing my posts about shitty police communications. I don’t limit my criticism about this to one area of the city.

>You live in a city. Shit happens.

What a refreshing change of perspective. /s

It’s almost as if you don’t want the police to do better.

>If there was any ongoing danger then you would know about it.

Now you’re getting into comedic territory. That’s hilarious, particularly given the years of lies we’ve heard from the RPD. Oh, you were serious about that?

You live in a city. Shit happens.
