Buy as many sets of long johns you can find while they are on sale down here. You are going to need them. Like when someone asks why certain laws exist in Virginia and the answer is always explained as it's a Commonwealth. The mantra for New Hampshire to explain it is Live Free or Die. I worked for a company out of Manchester and had to spend a couple of weeks up there training during the pandemic. It was interesting to say the least.

I recall getting super mad at video games as a kid because it felt i had no power/ability to win. Since maturing, i have taking care to practice looking at what exactly happened to allow the other player to win and think about what could have been done to counter, and how i can implement that strategy in the future. Just my take though

There are no scheduled commercial international flights out of RIC.
EDIT: Instead of downvoting me provide a link to a commercial international flight you can book.

I’ve been a Gather member since before the pandemic and I plan on maintaining my membership there due to the social aspects that I’ve found positive for my mental health. TBH it’s great having “coworkers” that don’t actually work for the same company as I do. Before the Gather times I spent most of my time in coffee shops(Starbucks) where I would venture to different locations, sit on patios, and try to find the best mix of being able to get work done while also enjoying being around other people.
But the true best spot if you want to stay as “free” as possible is the Capital One Cafe. The location in Carytown became my regular spot after it opened. They have a free off-street parking lot, 2 Story building, coffee and tea is half-off if you have a Capital One Card, and you’re able to pop into a little phone booth area for calls if need be(last time I stopped by some of these were walled off due to COVID policies). They have a location in the Short Pump mall that’s available as well. WiFi was always fast and the staff was always welcoming to me.
Hope that helps!

Getting some piddly house chores done while the other half works a half-day, then this evening a group of us are going to see Cocaine Bear, because why would you not?

Saw this entertaining thread pop up from the Raleigh subreddit about children in drinking establishments. Any spots in Richmond that have this problem? I can't think of any.

Much better than Nashitch, which sounds like a region-specific STD.

NH looks like a nice place to be. Geographically it’s in a good spot, kind of like here. Closer to Maine and Canada which is neat. Winter is the big difference.

The food options suck…..when they’re open. I’ve had some flights at odd hours and could only dream about the crappy food while staring at the closed shops. I think COVID played into the crappy hours for crappy food but it was an ironic situation

It MAY be Avesta but don’t quote me on that. Juggling a few things and can’t quite check right now.

Whenever I arrive at RIC, no matter the time of day, it rapidly turns into a ghost town after the bulk of passengers on my flight get their bags and get picked up. If it’s a late night arrival you can feel like you’re going to need to be the one who shuts off the lights and locks the door behind you when your ride shows up. It’s so quiet for a transportation hub. Also, speaking of hubs, we could have reliable, frequent, and easy public transportation between the airport and downtown, but nah…we aren’t gonna do that

The elevators in the parking deck are unreasonably warm. That’s about my only complaint I’ve ever had with the airport.

Fell asleep on the couch last night, bent ass neck. Woke up at midnight, transferred to concrete slab bed, couldn’t sleep for another 2.5 hours, wake up at 7:30 with bent neck and solidified spine. Time to butt chug espresso.

Many have commented about the terrible food options, which is true, however RIC is not an airport where you’d generally have a layover. It’s either a beginning or final destination for most, so not a huge reason to hang around.
Plus, given that it’s small it takes less than 15 minutes to get from the parking deck to your gate, so there’s not a huge reason to arrive hours early.
The baggage issue is plausible. It’s small enough there aren’t usually a ton of Airline staff around. If the flight landed in the evening after 9 pm the chances of seeing any airline employee at baggage claim are basically nonexistent. I’m

Hahah I’m sorry. I never understood gamer rage either, but I know it’s common. It’s a competitive thing I guess. Back when I used to play sports (moderately competitively) some people would freak out and I just never got it. But I’m about to have my first kid, so I’m sure I’ll see it soon enough.

Your description of the experience really put me in the moment and I felt your mild desperation after you spent so many hours traveling. It’s like the perfect balance of mild annoyance that is amplified as a result of needless protocol (whatever prevented AA staff from just processing the bags right away).

That’s exactly correct. One time I came in to RIC from an extremely delayed flight. We were landing after midnight (scheduled arrival was like 10pm)
They wouldn’t let us deplane because all the lights were off in RIC, and it sorta felt like we’d been forgotten about.
