No problem. I'm a control freak as well so I know the feeling. Took years to acknowledge I like control and to be okay with that but still be mindful and accept when things are out of my control. Or suddenly change from being in my control to suddenly not.

Video games are a great way to live a "power fantasy" in a harmless way. Especially as a kid where you have little control. Too young to be right but too old to be wrong haha.

One thing I recommend is trying to teach em to go with the flow. Don't get too attached to how you think something will go. Offer alternatives before an event is set in motion. Goin to get ice-cream? Ask em what they're gonna get. "Chocolate!" "Ooo, chocolate is good. And if they don't have chocolate?" Make em acknowledge the possibility of having to change their plan based on outside variables they can't control.

Not everytime cause you don't wanna overanalyze every possibility. But it helps with kids not getting too worked up and confused when life changes as rapidly as it does at times.

Because deep down, americans are at least 2 generations deep into the sanctimony of national brands. 7/11 is supposed to be a safe haven for convenient trash we all have a right to. I mean heavens, i might stop there with my kids in back of my late model suburban on the way to a rams game. If, for instance, a local shop with gaming machines and other cultural elements deemed undesirable to screen dwelling yuppies attracts violence, shut er down. Mcdonalds/exxon a lil hot? More cops! Protec american industriousness! As if they didnt used to camp out there... Being close enough to our benevolent benefactor vcu for students to wander across probably exacerbates the affront to a sense of security service as an inalienable right. Its also on one of the most beaten paths for commuters, people naturally feel a small sense of ownership over their regular haunts and travels.

Hopefully the /s bits are obvious but there ya go.

This is exceptionally minor, but at RIC the baggage claim belt runs from left to right. At pretty much every other airport in the US the belt run from right to left. I think it's to let locals get prime spots to get their bags as soon as they are offloaded, since most people unfamiliar with the airport will go stand on the right side. Perhaps you could have your character stand on the right side of the belt expecting to get his bags first, only to discover that he's in fact at the very end of the belt?

It’s always felt weird to me that Richmond airport literally closes. I guess it’s normal at small airports. But one time I had an early morning flight and there was a mechanical issue and they had to call some guy and wake him up so he could drive out to the airport to fix it. Then he didn’t know how to fix it so they had to bring in some guy from DC and then they got there and they couldn’t fix it either lol

If your departing flight is delayed, you still need to show up at the regular time in the evening. Once I found my flight was delayed until after 9 pm, I arrived at 830 to find TSA security was already closed down. So I had to rebook for the next morning.

One time I arrived a half hour before my flight was supposed to leave and the one woman in front of me in the security line proceeded to take out the most random things from her carry on bag… boxes of pancake mix. A large tub of Quaker Oats. Don’t worry - I still made it to my plane on time.
