For those who didn’t pay attention in Civics class, in this nomination process can you just write anyone in? Are there names on the ballots? Is there a place to find information on said names before going and casting a ballot?

Weather has all my greens popping off so I’m eating collards for days over here.

My day is lazy so I’ll post about yesterday. Did my first walk through of VMFA and holy shit what a gem. If you haven’t been in awhile do a walk through if you have some free time. My highlights were as follows:

2 pairs of Sumerian earrings, somewhere between 4000-5000 years old. Oldest man made objects I’ve seen in person. Found my new favorite painting, “The Vanity of Arms” by Jan van Kessel. I’m no artist and my art history is pretty touristy, but discovered a newfound appreciation for German expressionism (specifically Heckel). Making fun of old Renaissance era Aristocrats and how stupid they look. I found the studio contributions to be very cool as well, just reaffirming how much awesome talent is in this city.

It’s the time of year where I’m pretty much working if I’m not sleeping so trying to convince myself I still want to do this job… good news is I’m one week closer to this part of the year being over, only 11 weeks left 🥲 (I wish I hadn’t look up how much longer was left I thought it was less than that)

called for a domestic violence dispute in my apartment complex a few months back. when the cops finally showed up they didn't want to see the video i had of a woman being chased by her partner and screaming for her life. the cops literally just took a leisurely stroll down my hallway and were shooting the shit, left within 2 minutes of arriving, didn't do a welfare check, then stood outside my building for half an hour laughing at god knows what. this was after i had to call twice to make sure they were still coming because i feared for this other woman's life

tldr: yeah, the cops don't show up when you call them anymore, and when you do call them, they don't do anything

While I didn't bring a monitor, and I haven't done this since last fall, the capital one cafe in carytown is decent. They have good wi-fi, pretty good coffee, and they also have an upstairs where you can work without having to deal with all the foot traffic of people who are walking in just to buy coffee.
