We have increased teacher pay significantly in the past several years (still not where it should be, but our overall funding hasn't recovered from 2008 either), and they now have a union to represent and negotiate. These headlines are lazy and make it seem like it's an everywhere problem and it's not that extreme--there are targeted positions at select schools that have proven hard to fill. The same as in other counties. I totally understand a teacher having a negative reaction to seeing these headlines but they need to ask what school and what position and how does that compare to where I am and what I want to do and my compensation, and the issues my school faces. It's not like they are throwing hiring bonuses at people to perform the same work as teachers that stay. Or that if you leave whoever replaces you will automatically get this full bonus to replace you.

If you want to get anything done in this city, you have to go in person. It's pathetic, but it builds a sense of community...or something.

One thing that may help prevent similar situations in the future - ask for a certificate of insurance showing you as the certificate holder before even letting a contractor step foot on your property. This goes for everyone, businesses and individuals. If it's a big job, make them add you as an additional insured and/or require additional insured status in your contract with them.

Insurance probably would not have paid out for this loss, but dollars to donuts he doesn't have coverage. Money issues usually mean insurance is the easiest corner to cut, and failure to maintain a license would block him from getting coverage by any company that checked, which they mostly will do. Additionally, providing falsified certificates of insurance is a felony in Virginia.

Where do the mid/late 20s hang out in this city? I've lived here my whole life and went to VCU, but I feel like all the spots I know are the ones in The Fan that are mostly populated by VCU students. Want to get myself into more environments with people my age (even if I don't immediately meet people, just being around similar aged people with similar goals and lifestyles is super motivating), main one I've found so far is the VMFA/lawn. Secondarily, some good recs for reading/studying spots (especially ones that stay open late) would be nice.

I'm not gonna lie - maybe, but probably not? Definitely a few of the pieces would work for that, but I don't think there's enough out there to get them all together (and I know the pain of needing one or two things from Lowe's and having to make that separate run).

Just added pics of the wood! https://imgur.com/a/NAiz9II

I went there with my coworkers about two years ago and was charged a totally different price for our bottle of wine than what was listed on the menu. Checked the website and there was a different price there too. When we called to figure out what was going on they said there was nothing they could do about it and customers needed to get used to their pricing. Obviously we've never been back.

  1. Super Flower Leadex III 650W 80+ Gold power supply - $80 (pics)
  • 2 years old, works flawlessly and quietly, A-Tier on the PSU Tier List
  1. NZXT H200 Mini-ITX computer case w/ tempered glass window - $40
  • Around 4/5 years old, still in great condition

If someone is interested in purchasing both, I can install the PSU into the case beforehand, and will also include extra case fans that I currently have no use for. Willing to let the combo go for $100.

In addition, if you're looking to build out a PC with these parts and need help in any way, just let me know! Even if I were to build the system and completely set it up on my own, I wouldn't charge for it.

EDIT: Added pictures of the power supply. Will upload pictures of the case after I clean/dust it.
