Spending the weekend online in a PROSCI class.
I mean, not ideal, but nice to do some professional development again.

That's a good idea and makes a lot of sense. I tend to be overly focused on doing things "completely" to the point that it becomes a big hassle that I never have time for. If I just price the stuff worth above like $5 and estimate the rest it would go a lot quicker.

The Japanese stuff is tougher, though, because I am not entirely certain which card is which. I figure all that will just be bundled and priced arbitrarily. Not even sure if people in the US are interested in the Japanese ones anymore.. They were more useful 20 years ago when Japan was several sets ahead of the US.

Your partner says they park there all the time and don’t get a ticket, but then you’re surprised when you do? Yeah, it’s because they don’t patrol every block constantly. You got busted. Eventually people do.

And you’re questioning whether the parking fines “pad the pockets of the higher ups??” That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works.

It’s not like every dollar of revenue aligns with a specific dollar of expenses. Cities don’t work that way, businesses don’t work that way, people don’t work that way.

It’s a contracted service. Police don’t usually give tickets unless someone calls them about a car blocking a loading zone or handicap ramp. Tickets from police look very different from tickets you get from parking enforcement. I’d be surprised if the city makes much money at all annually from parking tickets. Whatever money they do make likely just goes into the general revenue fund and is used for basic city expenses.

That said if a sign says 1 hour parking and your boyfriend says it’s fine to park longer I guess you learned a lesson about who to listen to.
