Reservoir and Belle Isle are already mentioned, but as far as local booze that's not local beer goes there's also Steely Can Wine. It's on the shelves at Outpost Market and Barrel Thief, or ready for delivery or shipping from the Steely Can shop.

Na Nin candles are really nice. I love gifting those!

Unless things have changed, the whiskey offerings from Resevoir are... not particularly good - especially at their current price points.
Operating out of Fredericksburg, the Bowman distillery produces a much nicer product.

The Port Finished is around $40 a bottle.
If you want something closer to Richmond, operating out of Powhatan, the Three Crosses distillery is a scrappy young distiller putting out some nice products.

But Richmond is more of a beer town at the moment, and beer is generally easier to ship than distilled spirits.

oh, I've no idea about Burton's, I'm just speaking of one of the real weaknesses of my previous home, as an ex Bostonian. City bats under it's weight class on the food front
u/Asterion7 is poisoned with all sorts of NYC biases, but some of them happen to be sadly correct. He's right about Pizza too. He is wrong about all NYC sports teams of course, that is definitional

At least some are turning on dash lamp on and have that little yellow lights on the front.
Seriously I've seen so many drivers that are unaware that headlights are still turned off thinking their dash lights are on and so too headlights.
Turn the knob all the way!

I'll give you an upvote. We had a Burton's in Boca Raton and the food was good. More overpriced than I would pay for myself, but one of our bosses loved going to lunch there.

I don't think that's clear. It can be both local and national, which I see continuing. Most of the parcels don't suit national tenants.

I am so sorry to hear this. Savor the time with him this week. As for your partner. Maybe just focus on your dad at this time and talk with them as why they were emotional unavailable for you during this time.

yeah. I just don't see Mastodon going anywhere for those reasons. It needs to be seemless for mass adoption.
I also don't think twitter will go away. Most of the fear of that is by people who don't understand basic corporate structure. If it goes bankrupt it is highly unlikely to vanish - it just gets owned by someone other than Musk. I'm pretty sure many would welcome that

There are a few other robust threads about this from people asking for weddings, gift baskets, etc. It might be tricky to search for but they're definitely around.

In this vein, Ironclad Coffee is also great - I've given bags of coffee from there as gifts, to rave reviews.

Starting today and through the weekend I’m spending my turkey day dog sitting and super sweet pit bull. We’re gonna snuggle, watch movies and nap.

It can be scary. I usually am little generous with the throttle to stay as far away from others as I can be. When I can't be, I always make sure I have a way out. Part of riding a motorcycle is just assuming no one can see you and/or assuming other drivers are actively trying to kill you with their car.

I would be terrified to ride a motorcycle around here with these aggressive drivers.

This may be the last Thanksgiving I'll get with my dad. At least, the last time he may be able to eat solid food. He has ALS. I got home late last night from the ER because he fell in the bathroom and I had to pick him up. I need to cook some dishes tomorrow but I can barely get off the couch today to go shopping. He's still in the hospital and my partner hardly talked with me last night or comforted me. I feel so fucked up and alone right now.

Gotta love it!
