I’m never sad to see cities develop, as I’ve experienced the extreme violence and poverty that comes when they fail to do so.
With that said, I will admit that nothing prepared me for the overwhelmingly corporate transformation of Richmond’s culture, and I can’t help but find it alienating and profoundly offputting.

the South isn't geographically its cultural. EX Tennessee is southern but parts of VA arnt

Not likely- I hear people say that democrats are less likely to turn out for special elections, but I don't think there is much merit to it. If that is an effect, I don't think it would be a large enough effect to matter here. But obviously everyone should go vote again.

Maybe check out Common House? It’s a social club in downtown that is half the price of Gather and includes membership perks beyond coworking space. I’m not 100% confident what goes into membership though, I met a friend there for dinner once.

Check out the Richmond Habitat ReStore! Purchases go to help Habitat for Humanity and there can be some good deals on furniture. Everything is donated, but quality is usually pretty good. Some things are even new. Fair warning though, prices range from amazing deals to overpriced. I would throw it in your thrift store rotation if you’re shopping around.
