I live within walking distance and I don't really understand the objections. If I were given the choice between a Sheetz and a little green space there I'd go for the green space 100% but that isn't the choice we're being given. That intersection is all concrete as far as the eye can see anyway. Food Lion, 7-11, 2 garages, McDonald's, that new chicken fast food place and a dozen or so other shops. This seems like pure NIMBY-ism and it's not even understandable "I don't want a housing project in my backyard" NIMBY-ISM. It seems whiny to me even as a neighborhood local but that's just my $0.02.

As an aside, I wonder what the owners of that Thai restaurant and Natalie's Taste of Lebanon and Galley etc think about it. It might drive traffic to their businesses a bit?

There are definitely sections that will be more difficult for you to access, but I'd say 70% at least is accessible. It's worth noting that there are several retirement communities and nursing homes very close to Lewis Ginter, and they have a lot of elderly volunteers and employees. A lot of their frequent visitors have mobility difficulties, either from age or other reasons, and they have mostly wider pathways than a lot of similar places I've seen.

This really depends on if you’re looking for Celiac friendly level of gluten free or just some no-wheat based menu options. Plenty of places here have non dairy, gf, veggie or vegan options, or they will accommodate you if you just ask. But as most places in the city have relatively tiny kitchens, very few are truly able to eliminate cross contamination fully.

A worm :( I’m so sorry you had to experience that, but I’m glad both of our animals made it through and ended up okay! I really do love the shelters in Richmond and I will always encourage rescuing instead of shopping, but I try to give everyone a heads up because these things do happen and sometimes shelters can’t afford to care, are too busy, or don’t want to!

Traffic has always been a bitch at that stoplight, and having another gas station across from the 7-11 at the same intersection is going to cause terrible problems. Additionally, it will likely cause future rent problems for all the local businesses in that shopping center, eventually forcing many of them out. Yeah, that dilapidated storefront should have been torn down ten years ago, but a huge fucking gas station is not the right idea at all. No Sheetz!!!

This is the first time this has happened for me. Hence my complete and utter shock lol. I can’t change my commute as this road is a detour from another closed road. Like I mentioned above. This seemed like a one-off, so I’m not too worried that it’ll happen again.
