He wasn’t electable based on the field and the moment. And it certainly doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have been the better choice.

Right but he quit the campaign to avoid getting joe Morrissey in there. Basically he was acknowledging he wasn’t electable.
Finding good electable candidates is really really hard

If it was not on Stoney's mind at all, then why skip the police officer funeral for the senator? Hmmmm
Go Stoney Go. Let's get some real leadership in this town.

He's actually just kind of an awful human. All my friends in the service industry complain about him being a handsy, super diva karen running the staff into the ground, and doesn't tip after treating people like shit. So yeah....

Considering Richmond's past mayors, Stoney is above average. Granted, that is not saying a lot. However, this sub (and just every social media site) will hate anyone who does the job. It's just more fun to complain.

The system & environment makes every candidate an awful mayor that fails to meet the expectations of the public.
Everyone on this sub will hate the next mayor once they are in office for a few years and the honeymoon period goes away.
On the plus side because people hate the past mayor so much the honeymoon period lasts a lot longer than for President or Governor. But just like every other elected mayor the City's ever had everyone will end up hating the new mayor.

Kim Gray was fine, she just was a moderate so the city hated her thinking was too close to republican

Care to elaborate? I’m glad Fighting Joe sent you a decent a email but he’s still a nasty nasty man with borderline pedophilic tendencies

That doesn’t change the fact that he is a horrible human being. Just because he has fixed the power bills for a few people and he married his teenage concubine doesn’t mean he might actually be decent. Underground secret:::: he’s not.

If its Delegate Jeffrey M. Bourne, I'm voting against him (in a primary - I find it hard to believe I'd vote for a Republican over him). Didn't really like his response to an issue I emailed him on, though I do appreciate the response. State Senator Morrissey is pretty meh, but he responded better to my inquiry and voted accordingly so he has my vote.

Not sure what it looked like in the design phase, but AFAIK the finished mural has always had the bandaids.

Which proves he deserved it. Right after the election Stoney said he would govern like Baliles would have lol

Joe Morrissey may be a nut, but he’s still here after 3 decades of drama because he’s actually pretty good at being a politician— he knocks on doors and makes his constituents feel heard and cared about.

I went to an anti-gun violence event featuring Rep. McEachin a few weeks before he passed. News broke minutes before that the Chief of Police resigned. I took notes because what he said shocked me as he discussed another sitting elected Democratic official:
>The mayor is so busy trying to ‘build businesses’ while letting crime run amok. The Chief of Police was stuck...able to do nothing without the mayor.
Something tells me our late Congressman would agree with you.

Reply to comment by stellie11 in What is a decent vet in the area that isn’t extremely pricey? by cupidthrowdown
I second and third and fourth Locke A. Taylor. I could not recommend them enough.
This is my long winded story.
When I first moved to Richmond my dog had a stroke and lost all motor function in her back legs while zooming and playing at a local dog park. In a panic as a new to towner I just took her to the closest vet, which was Cary street veterinary (who sucks and is horribly overpriced) they wanted hundreds of dollars to even diagnose and another couple thousand to operate. I was a broke college kid at the time trying to figure out how to save my dog. But luckily I remembered right as I was loading her into my car to rush her there an older lady stopped me and told me her vet was amazing and I should call them before doing anything. She mentioned Locke A. Taylor. So I listened to her and called them before making any decision. The staff at Locke A Taylor was amazing. The vet talked to me for 30 minutes talking me out of my panic and telling me exactly what to do and not spend thousands of dollars yet and to show up at 5:30am the next morning. I showed up and there was no one at the clinic but the vet no staff just him. He unlocked the door and helped me carry my partially paralyzed dog inside. He went through the full exam and came to the conclusion it was a stroke that basically killed the nerve in her spine causing her to lose function in her back legs. So a couple round of steroids and a few weeks of wheelchair life she was able to have a second chance at fully healthy life. It’s been 7 years since then and my dog can sprint, jump, run up stairs, jump on couches. Love her best dog life ever. It cost me about $500 for everything and even offered to let me pay him whatever I could to take as long as I needed to pay them back. I can’t recommend them enough.
I have since taken multiple dogs, couple small animals (mice, rabbits, even a lizard) there and they’ve always gone above and beyond and been incredibly transparent with me.
TLDR: That vet showed up on his day off before the clinic opened to help a scared college kid get his best friend back.
