No, I admit to being sheltered. I walk the museum district and carytown a lot. And the vast majority of my interactions are pleasant. HOWEVER, I readily admit to being sheltered and being able to chose most of my interactions.

I've worked retail before..at a lowes..and met a lot of strange people. 90% of them would laugh at my dad jokes and be nice. But the other 20% were memorable jerks.

YES, I know my math is off. But it's a dad joke. I will say that it takes some work on our part not to let the jerky 10% outweigh the neutral to nice majority. One ood asshole can really ruin a day if you let him.

I'm also older and hopefully wiser and have spent some time working on how I view the world and people.

My husband and I got out $200 to play slots with at the MGM casino. We dressed up kinda fancy and wanted to feel like ballers.

It was gone in about ten minutes. Stupidest $200 we'd ever spent. Also depressing to see the people staring into the machines like they were looking into the face of God.

For every Y&I holding it down for their regulars, there’s a Hanes Mart not doing shit.

I don’t know if legislation against convenience stores is what we need, but there’s got to be some action based on the recognition that they serve as gathering spots for people who can’t or won’t go to bars, and the implications that that presents. What that looks like, I don’t know.

I had a more aggressive filter but the first time I had an HVAC technician come look at my system he was adamant I use a lower rated filter. His point was the filter is just designed to keep debris from getting into the machinery itself not out of the air.

So I’ve got several HEPA filters running throughout my house instead. Not exactly as easy a solution as buying a higher rated MERV filter but certainly cheaper than a new HVAC system!

now that i'm reading - I probably should lower my merv from 12 to 10 - my 2.5 ton unit in a 1200SQ house - .60 on static pressure max fan speed - merv12 typically - lower than .27 (merv13) - so i end up a bit around .40 on max pressure - for my 14x30 sized return - i think im good-ish - if that makes sense....

So it was weird last night, I showed up at game night (at 6pm) and evidently someone came in at 5:30, asked (with some name that none of us recognized) if it was game night to the new bartender (who was new that week), evidently went off on them when they didn't have a clear answer, and stormed out.

I have no idea who that person was.

I like my job function, my coworkers (in both technical and functional areas), and I like my house and family. Really, life isn't bad for me and that's phenomenal considering everything that's going on...
