Probably to something by Toots and The Maytals. Nothing like some reggae to keep the blues away.

I don’t know about Shirley, but the last time I did something similar, I just squatted and held the paper bag open.

Was Betsy's a coffee shop before Betsy got it? That is close to the Cary location you all are talking about.

The bakery was likely Jean-Jacques in the Carytown Court shopping center. It closed in June 2020 after the deaths of the owners. Very sad.

I scanned the article looking for a wild ass pay cut to “offset” this and didn’t see it.

I can say as a very frequent concert goer, those don't seem to have changed too much. I don't see mega acts or anything, mostly jam bands, smaller DJs, etc. A lot of shows that were $10 or $15 a few years ago are $20 or $25 now, but still plenty of cheaper ones and that change was gradual as opposed to a more recent skyrocket in flight

Neil Young - live at Massey Hall is a fitting backdrop for today.

the beatles - don’t let me down
something about that watery wurlitzer (or a rhodes?), the plodding drums, and dreary harmonies just embody a rainy day for me. follow-up might be “flowers never bend with the rainfall” by simon and garfunkel.
edit: ooo, or "i think it's going to rain today" by randy newman. such a good fucking song. the guy hates it apparently - thinks it's too maudlin - but it's so fucking good.
