Genuinely can't tell which district I'm supposed to be in, whether I'm actually district 04 (that's what it says on my registration) or if that's an error.

I live near J Sarge's Parham Road campus, and when I put my address into House.gov's "Find my representative" tool, it says I'm in VA-07. When I look at a map of VA-07, I am fully inside of VA-07. So I don't understand how my registration for the same address has me in VA-04? I looked up a congressional district map here and yeah in this too I'm fully inside 07.

Indeed, this is why weeks-long early voting windows and giving folks ample time to go out when everyone else isn't trying to do that same exact thing is incredibly convenient.

Every early voting experience in Richmond and Henrico (and before I moved to VA, Broward County, FL) has often been me walking right up to the door, getting my ballot, voting and scanning it, and collecting my sticker in less than 10 minutes tops. No long lines, no frustration, no waiting in the sun or rain or cold.

It boggles my mind that there's a sizable subset of the electorate who believe voting should only take place on one single day and that's what's best for democracy.

We waited in the line! It actually went very quick. Efficiently run with lots of volunteers. The line was wrapped around the building and we were in and out in about 40 minutes. Wear a warm coat and bring some gloves but overall not a bad experience.

This situation was precarious due to Youngkin being a fucking asshole and setting a very short timeline for primaries that state parties had to organize without the VA BoE throwing their weight around to secure public locations.

Most of the time, though, things are very purposefully set up to make sure that a lot of people that fit certain demographic boxes have the exact same reaction as OP and skip voting.

It’s actually one of my favorite holiday things to do—I go every year! I recommend getting there before opening and ready for a wait outside. I went at 4 yesterday (they open at 5) and got in around 5:30. I’d also highly recommend Birdie’s on Broad—honestly their holiday cocktails were just ok, but the decor was great and my non-drinking husband loves oysters so it was still fun for him. We didn’t have a reservation but went early and were sat right away.

If you're headed to vote, be kind to the volunteers. Im just leaving my first ever shift working the polls, and it's a lot. We have little info or authority. Just there trying to help. Complaining to volunteers just wastes their time and slows things down. So be patient, maybe get to know people in line, they are all our neighbors after all. Happy voting!
