Infants are entertained by looking at the ceiling, what possible purpose would it serve to have them watch tv?

Balance between NO2 and H2S helps regulate epigenetic quality control. This plays a role in regulating them and the transulferation pathways.
It's FAD dependent. So, essentially, eat your riboflavin / Vitamin B2, it's as important as that faddish NMN that the longevity Influencers are going on about.
Probably more so, as this backends on to NAD+ salvage pathway dysfunction.
Might eliminate the need for NAD precursors for longevity outside of normal diet.

This is useful. At least now I know more about how riboflavin feeds into one carbon and transulferation pathways. Why FAD is as important as NAD.
This may be a backend of why dysregulation of transulferation pathways speed up aging, and why certain transulferation gene variants have much longer lifespans.
It ties in metabolism of NO2 for Nucleotides, h2s for transulferation, and one carbon, and why they should be kept in balance.
Touches on epigenetic quality control.

Obviously there is a lot they could be going on, but studies like that are an opening for further research. Researchers will never be able to do a RCT with the amount of TV, but it’s an interesting starting point to determine what causes some of these EF issues. By kindergarten, there are already gaps in EF based on SES. I haven’t read this study, but could tv time mediate the relation between SES and EF?
If so, now we can start to come up with interventions to see if that has any affect. Basically all childhood studies on development at not RCT bc it would be unethical to make kids do things they could mess with their development, but good studies can start to enlighten us and open doors to further studies.

Friend of mine has a kid who can run from mom to grandma to grandpa to uncle all day, every day. I have nobody else around. My toddler loves to watch videos of people doing artisanal or technical things, like repairing machines, baking, painting, building, making music etc. We watch it together, I explain what they do.
And then she runs to her toys and wants to play what she saw, taking her cars apart and screwing them back together or she wants to bake muffins or draw with my help.
I rarely leave her to watch something alone, we talk about everything, her daddy does the same once he's home from work.
No fuss when screens are off or getting turned off.

What is the psychological makeup of the candidates? Do they come from good households?
I am all for doing what you want as long as you don't hurt another, but I hope we promote a little caution as well.

Honestly it isn't even about our long term survival.
Humans want to explore and expand and grow. They think there's a place they can go to set up shop they're gonna go whether it's a good idea or not.

Didn’t the invention of the camera also play a role? Since accuracy of an image was suddenly made so simple, I heard the impressionists decided to paint how an image felt.

Humans have had an insatiable urge to explore, chart, and colonize every square inch of habitable land for as long as we've been humans.
The morass of space will not stop us. We will spread and claim and consume until we have conquered every last bit of empty of space in the galaxy. Even if it takes us a million years.

Psychedelics certainly influenced me to stop smoking. I personally know several people who had the same experience. Setting aside actual physiological impact, psychedelics are very powerful tools of self-reflection. The idea that cigarettes are essentially slow suicide is extremely impactful when considered while high on psychedelics.
