Fun fact: you will be exposed to more radiation living 50 miles from a coal power plant than you would living 50 miles from a nuclear power plant

It’s a huge contributor. Also, clothes/carpets/bedding shed every day in your home. Good idea to get some hepa air purifiers. Fibers are worse to inhale than swallow.

I work with a dietician who's been following labs on people for decades. Ive learned from her that eating carnivore longterm is terrible for your arteries. Just like doctors have been saying for quite awhile now. It's never been about dietary LDL -- it's about saturated fat and how that influences LDL and triglycerides.

I'm going to go out on a limb and agree that prolonged pain and difficult recovery mixed with emotional turmoil are absolutely worse than kidney stones. I have chronic stones, several times per year I get stones that barely pass. I'm lucky if I only get 1 or 2 too large to pass. I still don't believe that my suffering equates to yours. Pain is subjective, however, so comparisons are a good way to start an argument.

It has failed because we do it poorly, but clearly there are cases where it can be effective. (Traditional asian and Mediterranean diets, for example).
For actual intervention, I agree. I've been low carb for 20 years.

nah. the usda has been pushing high carb low fat for years now. it is a failure. it is why the US has a huge obesity problem. low car high fat/protein is the way to go.

Reply to Breathwork shows promise in reducing stress, anxiety and depression, according to a new meta-analysis by HeinieKaboobler
If this is against the rules i apologize, I'm finding that more and more every single thing recently always throws in, will help with depression and anxiety. I'm feeling that scientists are just throwing these in for the hell of it. Was reading about "cold therapy" and how it will help with depression and anxiety. I mean reading a book could help with depression and anxiety.

Its so annoying that he just posts terrible articles here basically every day. A few months ago I went into his profile. Here on r/science he just spams any and all scientific papers that support his extreme keto diet, but in his profile he posts and comments on all sorts of medical related subreddits and tells people they can cure their irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, depression, and pretty much all diseases by eating like 90% meat, and the more red meat the better. Its dangerous to have these propaganda posts on a supposedly scientific subreddit.

Ive had 2 C-sections and chronic kidney stones- stones are worse bc they are like time bombs that will go off whenever they feel like it. The chronic back pain doesn’t help either.

That's also my argument but "responsibility as a value" (and concerns about how well it would be run) somehow supercede the value of life.

Same! Sorry you're dealing with kidney stones. They suck. If it's any consolation nothing beats kidney stones except that craziness, not even "regular" labor or C-sections or surgery or IUDs. Kidney stones are crazy.

I find it interesting that such a big deal was (rightly) made about plastic straws, but no one is talking about stopping driving or stopping artificial fibres. Tires and microfibre are the largest sources of micro plastic pollution. A cynic would think people find it easier to do something that doesn't really affect them and is visible virtue signalling...
