I wonder how much this correlates with living in a city being more mentally challenging/stressing than living somewhere rural on a farm with little to no air pollution.

it's called unity of purpose, meaning, you have agreed upon goals and are both committed to it. Do yourself a favor and don't get married until you know what your potential spouse prioritizes.

You want to buy a home, have a family? If the person you are with would rather spend money on other things, you have a problem. Similarly, if you want to travel the world and take things as they come, you had better be with someone who is comfortable with the level of uncertainty that comes with it. The point being, you need to be honest with yourself and each other, don't let the romantic buzz at the early stages of a relationship blind you, because it will if you don't do the hard work.

Perception studies do have some amount of value even if the notion of “measuring perception” is inherently imperfect. Sometimes perception studies can reveal interesting gaps between perception and reality. Of course, your observations are things that researchers would consider, And they do complicate the findings of perception studies.

I had an old sociology professor many years ago who was fond of saying “A problem is a problem whether real or perceived“

I'm more concerned with the elevated cancer risk. SIL has lived in an area of "chronic non-attainment of NAAQS" for the last 35 +/- years. She's in the hospital fighting brain cancer. Thanks, industry.

During school for clinical psychology, students are actively working on their own stuff while learning how to implement it with clients. And have been actively working with real clients under supervision before graduating. Also post-graduation, in order to have a job you have to be under supervision for a number of years to help mitigate any unintentional client harm.
